I would hazard a guess that the temp sensor behind the bumper has failed.

I dont have a temp display on the KL. I often checked the outside temp in the KH as a way to help me decide if I should put the AC on or just open the vent lol , but now we have the weather on the phone. Its not really useful.
Some might say they were just cutting costs, but I believe there was a real effort to rethink the dash to minimise driver distractions.

I did hit a kangaroo two weeks ago, that was about when the outside reading started saying 20 degrees all the time, I didn't know the temp sensor was in the bumper, but that explains it, thanks so much for your help vlad

No problems deano.

As for the L and W series not having temp readout, it was for cost saving. However the L and W series climate control had better smarts to adjust fan speed/ ac/ temp/ vents etc depending on the combination of inside and outside temps. Yep, the L and W series still has the outside temp sensor.

My Pajeros has outside temp display and I do not Lok at it all the time. No real need.

True but most new cars these days have climate control with the outside air temp, my sisters new Mazda 6 has a lot more driver distractions then my Verada does, I was looking at a KW Verada last year but couldn't believe it didn't have the outside air temp display. The outside air temp isn't a factor of weather I put the air con on or not I put the air con on if I feel hot, I like to know what the outside temperature as driving with the air con on a long trip you forget how hot it is outside. I'm sure it was a cost cutting measure by Mitsubishi with the KL/KW, it wasn't the only one.

I can help you with that...)

Sensor is under Passengers Headlight. You will see the Brown thing near chassis rail. Thats the outside temp sensor.

Ego to the rescue. I remember seeing that photo with the brown sensor plug but just could not remember who's it was.

Did you go through a proper repairer/insurance for the repair? If so then the repairer is meant to have fixed it. The climate control relies on it and the inside temp sensor to run properly.

I only have the car insured 3rd party property damage
