I'm not sure if this is the correct part of the forum but does anyone have the battery mounting hook & wing nut (or nut) to suit my 1997 TF Magna?

It is for my daughter's car. I just lifted the bonnet to check the engine oil and noticed the hook was missing and the positive battery lug red insulating cover pushed aside.

It took me a few minutes to work it out as I was blaming myself. I then remembered that she took the car for an air-conditioning service. The air-con sight glass and filter is below the front of the battery. Whoever did the service just took it out and left it off. Typical of today's quality service!

I live in Chatswood (Sydney) with post code 2067. If anyone has a hook can they let me know and I will buy it and pay for the cost of postage.

Thanks

Local wreckers perhaps?
There should be another, identical one holding the other side of the battery hold-down, look at & measure the length, seeing it is a fairly standard part found on other makes and models, shouldn't be too hard to find a suitable replacement.

Even your local parts shop will be able to sell you one as part of a battery hold-down kit.

HINT: Take the rest of it off too, in case it flaps about and hits the positive (red) part of the battery connection, resulting in instant fireworks.

I bought a generic one from supercheap for my third gen, works fine. I think I had to shorten it a little so it didn't hit the bonnet. Your local car shop should have one which will fit.

I'd take photos and send the bill to the aircon place.
