Some dog broke into my '99 magna exec, and only managed to damage my ignition and steal my battery! Yes, steal my $40 refurb battery, all class. I managed to clean the barrel out so the key goes in and out fine but cant manage to get it to turn to ACC so I cant remove the barrel.
Anyone have any ideas that don't involve towing or dealers?

Ring a locksmith and ask him how to remove the key

Did you read the post?

Removing the ignition barrel from the car requires you to use a working key to turn to the ACC position. Except if any of the tumblers are damaged or stuck, you can't turn the key that far.
How damaged is the barrel, and have you tried to lube it and wriggle the key?

A mobile locksmith may be able to get around the problem.

Any way of removing the barrel complete with locking mechanism from the dash?
(not familiar with those bits)

Try using the spare key, it usually has less wear and tear and so might be the difference needed to get it to move to ACC.

Just a suggestion - trying turning the steering wheel and see if helps take pressure of the locking mechanism.

OP says 'managed to damage my ignition' and he wants to remove the barrel after cleaning it out and trying it, so I'm assuming some attempt at forcing has happened and caused physical damage, if so trying a spare key or taking pressure off the lock mechanism may not help.

But we are guessing - picture of barrel damage would be helpful.

Such a dog move stealing a cheap battery. More an annoyance then anything else.
