I have a KF and I've been on the prowl for a towbar that suits the bumpers without a removeable flap and finally managed to find one, but was fitted to a KJ. I couldn't visually see any difference so I did pick it up, but i'll need to repaint it first before trying to fit it and check clearance
I noticed when looking that some towbars list KE KF KH as being the same, but don't explicitly state KJ or later models. While others say KE to KW are the same. Whats the scoop? I'm pretty sure the one I got is genuine but i'll have to clean it up before I can read the identification markings. Only thing I can make out is towing capacity 1500kg
Couple pics, looks like i'll have plenty of clearance and can't visually see anything wrong, but only way i'll know for certain is to cut the section of the bumper on the underside, and i'd rather not do that until I know for certain it'll fit. For instance are the KJ bumpers vertically a bit shorter and thats why some don't mention KJ?

That is not the square hitch one and is why it does not need bumper cutting. The square hitch one I had in my KW required the bumper cut.

There are a bunch of towbars including flat tongue ones that require bumper cutting, depends on brand. This one is an Aranda, so not genuine. Has 1500kg towing but a pitiful 90kg downforce. Oh well I have no intentions of ever towing a caravan. It'd just be for moving house or moving bikes around
If no ones quite sure i'll get stuck into it tomorrow regardless and report my findings, but if its not genuine - and they don't appear to make them anymore - then I don't know how useful the information would be anyway
Looks like i'll have to splice in the wiring harness as the wreckers chopped the plug on the other end if it was ever there. Anyone have a pinout for the car so I know which wire does what?

Oh, now THAT is interesting. As I did find another towbar on another car also made by ALLIN. So you're saying they make the genuine ones? In which case YES they are different because.....

Tongue has the same number, MR906686
Towbar MR906668
I figured that even though it had KE/KF it may be because of year of manufacture (no KH onwards even made yet) since they all say at least KE/KF/KH are the same
In which case i'll take this one back (they did give me a fitment guarantee) and grab the allin one

Since they have Mitsubishi part numbers I assume the ALLIN towbars are OEM.
Also here's the towbar wiring connector from my KJ if it helps:
Looks like 1 = Empty, 2= Yellow, 3 = White, 4 = Empty, 5 = Green, 6 = Red, 7 = Brown

I picked up my towbar from the wreckers off a KH. Its a hayman reese and I had to cut just a little bit of the bar like in the first picture. I also used flat trailer wire and keep it in the spare wheel well when not in use.

Plugs will be universal but are those wire colours the same as whats in the car itself? No idea if mine has a plug in there already, doubtful. Or if it has a proper socket to plug a trailer harness directly into. I have no problem splicing into the wiring, I do good electrical work. Just need to know which wires go where, can always find them out but it would save some time

And where does yours connect in on the car itself? Is there a central point that all wires go to in the boot, or do I have to run a separate wire to the right side to pickup the right turn signal?

Seems to connect on the left hand tail light:

If there's anything else I can get a picture of for you let me know.
Yes Allin does OEM towards and fittings for some of the dealers in Adelaide. The one on my KW is Allin as well (ATB).
As for connections, I remember my KW, if you pull off the carpet on the right side, there is a loom connection there just behind the wheel arch. Or was it the left side? I can't remember.

Picked up the allin one. Mounting is definitely not the same as the Aranda one which looked like it only mounted with 6 bolts to the chassis. Genuine/allin uses 14 upgraded bolts and goes over all 3 sides of the chassis tunnels. Not sure what the allin KJ one is like
I also noticed the bumper removal directions in the manual are not quite the same. It looks like the later model cars have a split rear bumper? Mines 1 piece which may account for the difference
I'm also possibly retarded because I forgot to grab one of the right angle brackets that sits inside the chassis tunnels. Do I need to get one made up or would high tensile nuts and big washers suffice? I'm seriously just thinking the latter, can't imagine it would make much difference
