So while picking up a towbar I also spotted a single tip muffler on a magna, checked the VIN of the car it was on and it's a 2002 Magna VRX. However I couldn't find any identification except 2 sets of digits which read something like 17 03 (don't remember what they were and didn't take a pic). Could not see a Mitsubishi logo or any other ID
It has a single tip (standard, not chrome) that droops down. Overall length and weight of the muffler is about half that of my stock Verada one. One thing that makes me think its not stock is there's only 2 hangar mounts, and both are just bent pieces of metal, they don't have flared ends that securely mount to the rubber like my stock pipe

No pics yet, busy getting slightly bent towbar on (my fault, huge PITA, shouldn't have rushed those last 30 seconds :oopssign:)

Do the stock VRX sports mufflers definitely have ID on them? If not any other ID i.e. is the tip in the middle/left/right, do they have proper hangar mounts etc?

My S2 TJ VR-X has the Mitsubishi logo followed by J20-06 underneath the muffler, plus it has hangers with the flared ends.

Cheers, yep figured it wasn't stock as soon as I drove the car, what an awful droney piece of god damn crap. Worst muffler i've EVER heard, was extremely loud and droney at 2000rpm and then actually got quieter at high revs. It took me all of about 2 minutes to decide to toss it in the bin. No idea why the previous owner would have opted for that utter garbage. Closest pic I could find was a redback exhaust, but without any logo's on it it could have been anything

Sounds like a Redback, like the one I fitted to my TJ. It's what you get when you walk into a car parts place and ask for just anything as long as it fits. lol
Don't mind the sound it makes myself.

There's only Redback and Walker for ready made bolt on bits, Lukey mufflers need some cuttin' and weldin' I believe.
(All the same company anyway IIRC)

A genuine box definitely has the Mitsu emblem pressed into it.

What I can't get over is that someone actually put that heap of shit on a Magna Sports..... On a regular mitsubishi 'maybe' but man what the heck were they smoking that day...
