Sounds like it's time to download the manual.

to my knowledge the cam angle sensor is integral in the distributor, crank is mounted near the crank under the timing cover, something like this image

What was the problem, how was it fixed, and why haven't you got the (free) manual yet?

(Just for the curious, you understand. lol)

And thanks for spreading the problem you have with one car over half a dozen threads. Makes it impossible to follow what is going on.

*** NOOB / DUMBASS ALERT ***

Ok, so heres the story. I have two Magna's, a TF and a TJ both with leaking rocker covers. I was quoted by a mobile mechanic $250 inc parts which seemed a fair price but due to recent unemployment money is very tight. So I had a look at the TF and thought as long as the TJ Wagon is running I could afford to have a go. The TF was pretty straight forward except that the breather hose being 1997 was very brittle and on removal cracks appeared. After much advice from here I went to a local scrap yard and wrestled with a 2004 but ended up getting a pipe of a 2003. Put the TF all together with the new knowledge of the torque settings and finding a mate who has a torque wrench as he does a lot of motorbike work. TF was road tested and all was well so i convinced myself I could do the TJ. Now this isn't my first TJ, the last one we had the mobile mechanic do the rocker covers, but sadly the wife had a prang and off it went to scrap. The newer 2003 TJ was not an easy one as it didn't want to give up anything easily. The bolts were very tight and even the rear rocker cover gasket did not want to come off with some persuasion. Then the gasket I bought from a local store did not fit and was at least 1cm too long on each side. So a quick visit to get it swapped and on she goes. While in the process of replacing the rocker cover i knocked a small v shaped thing on the cam and flicked it back in place easy enough but left me a little worried. Bolted all back down and tested and the engine sounded ok. So now to degrease months of oil off. I got very excited with the amount of water i used which became very noticeable when it wouldn't start. WD40 came out and I went through every electrical connection i could and sprayed. Eventually it started and seemed to be running ok, until the wife actually took it for a drive. When she started to accelerate and the car took second gear at 4 thousand the engine light came on. Take your foot off and the engine light would vanish again. SO i came here to search for the code and in the process I very amateurish didn't pay attention to which way the diag block was facing and got pin 1 wrong. When grounding it I got a few sparks and Anti Lock and Engine light flashed at the same time. Each time I switched off the ignition and back on the gauges would all test by going up to half way position and then back to normal resting position. I thought i had done some real damage to the ECU and noticed the car stereo was no longer working. MadMax suggested that I check the fuses under the bonnet located in the yellow block. Sure enough even though I inspected the fuses I had not looked at the 15amp fuse in there. Swapped it out and got back in the car and switched on the ignition, only to have the same results as before and now i have no digital display at all. Now I REALY thought I had killed the ECU. I had a mate visit and I was explaining to him my problems and showed him which 15amp fuse I had replaced. As soon as i pointed / touched the 15amp fuse the yellow carriage dropped and the cabin lights came on and sure enough we now have a digital display again! YAY ! Back to square one with engine warning light. Decided not to risk it anymore and got in touch with an Auto Electrician who called over in the evening and brought a very nice computer with him. Connected and tests performed the Crank and Cam sensors were flagged. I asked on here where the sensors are so i could have a quick look while he was doing what he does. A complete revisit of the electrical connections and some professional water disbursement chemicals, followed by cleaning out of the distributor seemed to do the trick. Run of the diags all over again and a quick test drive proved to be all good. SO a big thanks to all who replied.

Only weird thing was when i removed the air intake off the TJ I found oil around the manifold gasket, any ideas or is this normal ?
