I can't give you a direct answer to your question.
But instead, I need to ask one myself.
Why haven't you asked this in a thread that already deals with "Ultima" shocks?

Or even, carry out a search of the forum using the search term "Ultima":

Why bother wasting everyone else's time if you can't be bothered to use the search function.
It is there to help reduce potentially confusing duplication.
To me, it would be more sensible, and considerate of others, if relevant information is concentrated in fewer threads.

Well that's your opinion, who do you think you are? the gate keeper of this site, just maybe someone has used these shocks that hasn't posted on here, please don't bother to reply to any threads I put up in the future. If I have done something wrong I can be told by Admin and not you.

So, did you bother to search?
It seems not.
Go ahead and buy them.
Have fun(replacing them after a short while because they don't work too well).

So what answer were you expecting? That these are better than Koni or Sachs, despite the price?
Do some research on how shocks work, compression and rebound damping, construction, etc.
Then find out how these shocks work and are constructed.
Admin opinions on starting multiple threads and which strut makes are good are well known in this forum.
For the price, it is most likely these are rubbish, to be honest. By all means buy them, but keep your current struts as you may want to swap them back in in a months time.

I've been using Selby shocks (which I think are relabeled Ultima shocks, if not similar price/quality) with King Low SPs for the last 2.5 years/45,000km and they're fine for the price, if not slightly firm. As long as you don't expect them to be at the same quality/durability level as a Sachs/Boge/Koni, they'll do the job.

No I don't expect people to say these are better then the more expensive shocks, I was wonder what they thought of the ride and how long they lasted etc, I got a answer from ammerty without the bullshit thank you.

No worries.. While they're out, I'd consider replacing the strut top mount/bearing plate, if they are the original ones.
A pair Monroe Strut-Mates can be had for $125 inc shipping on ebay, and saves the hassle of replacing them further down the track. Two birds with one stone and all...

Thanks for that advice ammerty, its a KJ Verada thats done 262,000, so guess the strut tops might be getting a bit worn, thanks for your help, cheers

In my experience there is nothing wrong with them.
I've had two front sets of Ultimas on my car. The first set were the yellow painted ones and they performed well but made an annoying squeaky noise which could be heard at low speed.
The second set are the black painted ones in the eBay listing linked by the OP. They've been in for about a year, along with a matching rear set.
Ride and handling is far better than it was with the original Monroe GTs that's for sure. The ride is much softer and forgiving, which is what I like, yet the car will handle (albeit with quite a bit of body roll). When I fitted the second front set of Utlimas, I also fitted new strut mounts which made a significant difference to refinement so I'd highly recommend doing that too.
Personally, I can't fault the set that I have in now. The car drives and rides well. Hope this helps.

Hi Billy, thank you so much for your excellent reply, that is a very big help to me.
With the new strut tops did they improve handling? reduce noise? with your old strut tops did you find they had a bit of slop in them when you took the strut out of the car? my car is currently a bit rattly over some bumps, makes me think they may need replacing, plus the car has done 263,000 k's, also when fitting the strut to your car with the new strut tops does it matter what position the strut top is in since it can be in 3 different positions? Thanks again for your very helpful reply Billy, cheers Dean

Someone has posted pics of used compared to new strut tops, and the new ones are about 5mm thicker, so it seems they sag over time in an area that is designed to offer a bit more compliance to the ride.
Keep us updated if you do buy those shocks, though personally I think the Sachs/Boge have proven themselves to be a great product and are pretty reasonably priced too

Hi Dean
When I replaced the strut top mounts, my car had traveled well over 400,000km and so I noticed a significant improvement in refinement. For example, driving over the cat eyes when changing lanes on the motorway produces a muted thump rather than a bang and shudder. As for handling, I suppose that in combination with the new shocks the car feels tighter in the front end, perhaps a little more precise and none of the rattles that you mentioned.
As for positioning, the mounting plate spins on a bearing and all 3 studs are evenly spaced so it doesn't matter. Hope this helps!

Hi Billy
Thanks so much for taking the time out to reply to my questions very much appreciated. I certainly will be replacing my strut tops when I do the struts. Cheers Dean
