I got the Solara model, wich came with the in dash 4 CD stacker, And a friend told me I can still use the stacker with my kenwood, so I decided to try and put it in yesterday.
I took out the whole stereo with the aircon dials all out, I unplug all the plugs I could, worked out how to uncliped the two cables that control the aircon fan speed and temp from the radio. The one in the middle that you slide from right to left to get air from outside on put on circulated the air inside, came off from the back. So I have the whole unit on my table with this cable sticking out.
My point is that I am not sure where exactly did this cable come off? It should open and close some vent somewhere in there to the left.
Also I am wondering if I can get a plug that connects the factory stereo plug to the kenwood sysle plug in the stereo. This way if i wanna put the factory stereo back it is a lot easer and no wire cutting.
Also I notice that the factory radio used two plugs? one with the power and speaker wires and there is another small plug? Just with one wire? What is that for?
I should try and get the wiring diagrams for this radio.

Thanks for that mate, I went down to JB Hi-Fi and found one plug for "late model magna". So I will connect that to the kenwood plug and that should be that.
The only prob is I am using my brain to work out what the kenwood wires are. The factory magna has more wires than the kenwood!
Red = power
black = ground
yellow = ignition power
blue = ?? think this is the power antenna thing
blue with white = remote??
See picture below.
Also you can buy harness's for your stock stereo to fit Kenwood/Pioneer..
Goto an Autobahn or something like that.

Thanks for the help guys. I was also wondering where is the ground wire for a magna. The Diagram say n/a. Don't I need on for the kenwood?

Ground wire is to be connected to any metal on the car just behind the stereo is usually a good spot.. (use a multimeter to find a good earth)

I installed a kenwood deck into a TJ last weekend and all i did was splice the cables and left the original connector on there. The wiring was very easy to identify what was what. Don't forget there is an illumination wire on the factory harness aswell which dims the kenwoods backilights when you turn on the headlights. I grounded the black wire under the plated bolt down the bottom left hand side.
Pity those dashes are so bloody hard to work with, especially those 2 screws under the air vents. :mad:

Eh? If you just pull out the airvents they are easy to unscrew.... :nuts:

Hehehe... That was the trouble.. I pulled the entire face plate off the vents and it tool a while how to figure out how to get it back together again... But now i have done 1 it shouldn't be too much trouble to do another.
