Hello Tech ppl, My question goes to anyone who knows how to rewire 3rd Gen Parabolic headlights.

I went from the H4 standard low beam to the Parabolic (H7)???

H4 has 3 male connection slots, the para (H7) only has 2,

So what do I do?

Cheers

connect one of the two globe tabs/prongs to earth (body / chassis) the other to the constant positive of the 3-prong connector that plugged into the old globe.

my memory is pretty rough but i'm pretty sure thats right, hope it makes sense?

DVS and I discussed this in a thread a while back when I did mine, which i'm sure you'll be able to find by doing a search....

/Edit: All the answers can be found here in this thread: http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4866

okay, I've got one more question,
I've done exactly what the thread said to do, connect the live wire (RED) to 1 prong, connect the other Prong to Ground(Chassis).

***Plz note the current parker bulbs are not working, parker sockets are OPEN CIRCUIT***

When I turn on low beam, Both Hi Beam and Low Beam (H1 and H7) bulbs are lighted but with very little power, they are the same intensity as household 60W bulbs... i've been trying different things, pulling out sockets and When I pull out one H7 socket, the other H7 actually brightens up to NORMAL low beam brightness, and the hi beams (both H1) dims all the way, but with a yellow wire glow inside the bulb, can still be seen.

When I plug the H7 socket back into the bulb, the H1 brighten up and the other H7 dimmer, both H1 and H7 are the same brightness again.

when I unplug 1 H1 socket, the other H1 brightens all the way and both H7 dims all the way.
When I unplug 2 H1 sockets, NOTHING SHINES.

Could this be due to inpedence difference caused by not having parkers?

Cheers
Anyone who knows how to fix this problem please comment.

it sounds like you may have an earth leakage (or a short circuit) somewhere.

Disabling your parker lights (ie. not pluggin them into anything) should not be the cause of the problem, unless its your parker light wiring is touching something metal.

I would guess you may have wired the ground wire in the low beam connector wrong, but i won't know for certain until i read the wiring diagrams.

Thanks for your reply, the problem is fixed :D after having a look at the wiring diagram on Haynes for external lighting.

what I did wrong was connecting the RED wire to the H7s, I believe I read somewhere before, someone has posted which wires to connect up; basically, if anyone else is going to convert from normal H4 to H7, All you gotta do is to NOT use the red wire, the other two wires are the right wires to connect to the H7 bulb, doesn't matter which way it goes, as long as you don't connect the RED wire to the H7, you're fine!

The reason why the Hi Beams were coming on is due to the fact that the RED wire is connected to the Hi beams, so when I connected the red wire to 1 of the H7 prongs and earth the other Prong, The current is actually coming from the hi beam Relay, not the lo beam relay.

There's two configurations you can use,
1) when you use hi beam; both hi and lo beams shine, eg the lo beam stays lit.
----> ON PASSENGER SIDE: Connect one of the H7 prongs to earth and connect the RED with blue strip wire from the old H4 harness to the other prong.
----> ON DRIVER SIDE: Connect one of the H7 prongs to earth and connect the WHITE with red strip wire from the old H4 harness to the other prong.

2) when you use hi beam; only hi beam shines and the lo beam turns off.
----> On both sides: Discard pure RED wire from H4 harness and connect the only two other wires to the H7 bulb.

I hope this will help everyone!
