Err - I know you said you don't know the brand but seriously how can we help then? You can buy learning Keyfobs from Jaycar Electronics but first you need a working original (sometimes defeats the purpose doesn't it!).
Some good advice is you buy a learning remote, code it and put your original remote away somewhere.
NOTES : Learning remotes do not work if your immobiliser is a "code hopping" type or runs at some strange frequency....
Hopefully Jaycar will have one to suit.

if you have an alarm box inside the engine bay(i'll attach a photo of mine) it should have a code on it. take this code to autobarn or someone that installs alarms and they should be able to tell you what type of alarm it is. that way you can work from there..
oh and trust me, if its a code hopping one don't even bother with a learning remote. got a learning remote before i knew what type of alarm it was and when i was trying to "teach" it the code, it kept setting the alarm off(quite a funny site to see in a crouded shopping center carpark!!!).
**EDIT**
the box should look something like that(just not as dusty!!!). mine is mounted on the passenger firewall

If the button is jammed, easiest way for a non techy person would be to head to an electronics repairer, and they should be able to unjam the button (or install a new switch). I dunno how much they'll charge though.

Unsolder the old microswitch from the PCB and solder a new one in. Problem solved.

depending on what type of micro switch it is, un-solder the switch cover pull the button out clean it up and see if its freed up. i had a look through an RS catalogue and found a microswitch that would fit.

i just put in new battery into the crazy remote. the jammed button is still working but it would transmit at a slightest touch. however, the car does not respond to the signal.
how much would a remote ordered from autobarn cost? anywhere near the $50 mark?

btw, i think its transmitting as the red led was light up.
i tried jaycar and dicksmith electronic and they don't have the tactile pushbutton switch that is compatible.
the switch i have is a 2 pin but the ones that jaycar stock are 4 pins.
any1 have other electronic store to recommend in sydney?

Try Wagner. www.wagner.net.au (http://www.wagner.net.au)

Also try...
Farnell-in-one electronics (www.farnellineone.com.au (http://www.farnellineone.com.au/))
RS components (www.rs-components.com.au (http://www.rs-components.com.au/))
WES electronics (www.wescomponents.com (http://www.wescomponents.com))
Otherwise, take it down to a local electronic repair shop and ask them to have a look... shouldn't cost you too much. Most should give you a quote beforehand... I'm guestimating less than 50 bucks...
if it costs anything more, then i'd get a new one (if you can figure out what brand and where to get it from...)
good luck...
