Metho will strip the paint off your car.. Thats if you leave it on there for a while..
As far as i know bird **** thats baked in that far cant be fixed. Sounds like its eaten through your paint already..
I might be wrong..

Try using petrol instead. It won't eat through your paint as quick as metho

Try concentrated car wash - just straight on teh rag and rub. If that doesn't work - cut an polish! If the pait work is actually damaged, give Paint Doctor a whirl

Probably a silly post, but anyway....
Try some hot soapy water and actually keep applying it so that you literally soak the S***. With luck it may soften it. I imagine it would be similar in theory to soaking a pot that has food baked into the bottom of it, soaking usually softens the crap on the bottom enough for it to be removed.
BTW, how long was the bird crap been on the paintwork for??

not very constructive, but when i went on holidays to south africa last year, i left my starion sitting in the back yard, came home 3 weeks later, and the **** had eaten straight through the paint  my car was dark blue at the time, with light blue spots where the bird **** had eaten through lol
i just used hot soapy water and scrubbed the crap out of it.. get something soft (or your finger nail if u dont go ewwww) and just scrape the bird crap off, the reason i said soft is cos you dont wanna scratch the paint, just the bird **** off the top then the bottom stuff should wash off reasonably easy..
be careful tho

Paint doctor!! It'll work trust me. Go to Repco or supercheap. I think it was $10 for the tube. Use a little on a rag and beeaaaaauuuutiful!

Paint Doctor?? If it worked on everything there'd be no detailers or smash shops.
You'll just have to buy some 3000grit wet & dry, level the acid burn out, compound, polish/glaze and a good polymer SEALANT!!! The sealant and a regular wash will reduce the acid burn from bugs and bird s**t.
