Hey guys !
I just signed up as a new member and thought I'd share a “bolt on” brake modification with fellow 1996-1999 magna owners as they are some what under braked if you want to stop your ride from 220ks or same with fast stop starts and alike !
The "bolt on" solution to this (after many tries) was to fit ADB (Australian Disc Brakes) slotted and drilled paw prints to the front (I did use the slotted only ones but they developed heat cracks and warped)
The twist is to fit the later 2000 plus model magna callipers so you can fit bigger pads (about 30% bigger) and this should slow the ride down quite well !
I have experimented with various types of pads with the "Tuff Stuff" brand using the "green" pads working amazingly well with good cold stops but would only get around 6-7 thousand ks out of a set when in hard use !
I have just swapped to a Hardie Ferodo pad and although they disperse the heat well it lacks cold braking ! (not unsafe just not real good)
Now to get the job done at the right price what I suggest is to pick up a set of second hand disc/calliper assembly, post 2000 yourself from the wreckers to start with,(please double check they are the larger ones) ie magna wreck always has a selection of parts.
The cost of fitting these are reasonable with Aaron my mechanic and owner of the service centre at the Liberty Fuels in Preston Street Como WA doing an excellent job !
So that’s my low cost very usable tip !
Hope to see you on the run Sunday

mate, i think those bigger calipers u were referring to are from the AWD and ralliarts ... they r 2 piston jobbies and r more effective compared to the standard single pistons. rpw offers a kit like that.
