OK, even when i had my old engine, their was this sound that used to bug the hell out of me.

It sounds like a cooking pot and you can ONLY hear it inside.

Like if i have the car on, you cannot hear it at the engine bay but when i sit in the car, the noise is their.

The noise is still there with the rebuilt engine.

its pretty ennoying and sometimes it gets really loud.

When i can, ill see if i can record the sound.

Maybe the aircon is stuck on? A recorded sound would help a lot! Do you hear it if your sitting in the car with the engine off? Can you still hear it after running the engine for a bit then turning it off?

Nope. Its not the aircon. Its definately not stuck on.

No it only happens when its running :(.

No the noise goes away when the engine is off. It doesnt stay around even half a second. the moment the engine has stopped running, it just stops.

Then when i turn the car back on, its back

Also, the sound doesnt change when im revving the car. It just stays the same all the time witch is really confusing me.

Ill see if i can record it.

Thats really weird mate, i can not think of a damn thing that would cause it, especially if you cant here it when your standing over the engine!! I was thinking maybe something to do with the radiator....but i guess it cant be eh? ummm.....****....im gonna be thinking about this all friggen night now!! lol

Edit: Ok, heres an idea, if it happened when the old engine was there, then it cant really be an engine related problem, it has to be something else, could it possibly be a dodgy fuel pump? The fuel pump is underneath the car and you would be able to hear it from the cabin, but probably not from the engine, i could be wrong, but i would take that out and have a look at it...:D

where exactly is the noise coming from if u can pin point it and type of sound does it make i know you said "It sounds like a cooking pot and you can ONLY hear it inside" but can you maybe describe the noise better??

OK.

I cant record the sound i have no way of doing it. I thought i would atleast have a tape recorder like every other person but i dont

I checked the car for the noise and as i was increasing the rpm, the noise did actually get faster. I guess when your not paying attention to it it seems like its stays the same so it MUST be a moving part.

I can JUST barely hear it from the engine bay but i can hear it most when i have my head where that spare slot for change is inside the car right infront of the gear stick.

If it wasnt for this noise, it would be nice and quite.

My exuast manifold does have a small crack in it, i wonder if it could be that ?

Could the dizzy cap be doing this noise ?

First i thought it was something like the timing chain but i got told that the one in this engine is brand new.

If it helps, when the O2 sensor was disconnected the sound was worse.

have a read threw this http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8100 and see if the same things going on...if it is then it would have sum thing to do with the heater pipes just try mucking around with the temp dial and see if that affects it

I would say its something to do with the manifold crack...

hmm i say loose engine mount perhaps or exhaust rubbing on some under part of the car, could be bent clutch preshure plate fin does the noise stop when u press in the clutch? if your think its cracked manifold remove the heat sheild and check for cracks, noises can be a pain to check
