what i need to know is how to do it.

there are some sort of shelf that is on the door, can this be removed or do i have to cut it off. The plan is to cover where the speakers are going to hide any extra damage that may be done.

does anyone have any pics of front speakers installed.

how long will it take approx?

oh... by the way, the speakers are sony 6" 3ways.

thanx all....

Get a pair of door pods of the Verada XI, they will look very neat and will screw on. They will clear the window winders, Lethal has a set on his.

I was about to ask if any other models had door pods.
I still need front speakers (someone actually bothered to take the ones in the dash out) but i can see my self cursing and swearing alot trying to get new ones in there with the holes being so close to the windscreen.

first;
thanx killbilly. now i know that there is a nice deep hole that they can fit into i'll stress less..
quick question though, was the door trim thick enough for the screws or did you put something behind it for the screws to bite into?

second;

Cobra82, don't even try to put front speakers into the front unless you have a lot of patince and one of those bending screw driver things. trust me. I have tryed with a normal screw driver, they are sort of screwed in there, but not tight enough, so all you hear is the screws rattle when a loud bass note is played.

Yeah i thought that would be the case from just looking at how the holes are right there in the corner, you can hardly fit your hand in there.

Can't believe the previous owners went the the trouble of taking them out, they must have had some decent aftermarket ones in there.

Oh and if i can get hold of the front whole door trims from a verada Xi (even including the power windows) how easy or hard is it to do a replacement. Is it all bolt on/snap in or will much cutting and drilling be required?

I replaced my 4 inch speakers, was a pain but got there in the end. Had to use my hand and the screw driver piece off a drill to screw it in, also had to cut out a piece of plastic that went accross the hole to fit in the new speaker. If it's possible to get door pods that screw straight on that'd be awesome, though i do imagine they'd be very expensive

The speakers came with metal clamps that went either side of the screw holes you drill and then the screw bit into them

I'd highly recommend making a MDF spacer though, I'm yet to do it but it helps a lot with midbass response apparently.

i replaced dash speakers and was the biggest pain in the arse ever. not worth time or money spent on better 4" speakers.

Madmagna or lethal where can you get the pods for and how much did they cost?

i literally gave up trying to find door pods. There is not a single wrecked KS Verada in Sydney (well none that I could easily find anyway). But for a clean, non-aftermarket style, using the Verada door trim is a good idea, and you get the pockets as well :D
