Whats a general price range for the parts needed for replacing the timing chain? theres a kit on eBay goin for 190.. Which got me thinking about how much im gonna need when i decide to do this..

this is what the description on eBay auction says:
Mitsibushi Magna 2.6Litre Timing Chain Kit.This kit contains all required parts to complete overhaul the timing chain assy on any 2.6litre mitsibushi Magna engine. You have both chains, seals, gaskets, and all guides. This item is brand new and in it's original purchase box. It also comes with a full vrs gasket kit to help you with the repairs.

Is that everything needed?

That is not such a bad price for this, try ringing bursons.

You will also need the knowledge to fit it as it is a fairly detailed job

you can buy a timing chain kit from bursons for around 150 or so. That one on ebay is a good buy if you want a full VRS gasket kit, but you arent going to have to take off the head to do the job. So either get that off ebay and put the gasket kit away for if you blow a head gasket someday, or go to bursons.

If you are with RACV, show your card n save

i think my timing chain is rattling at the moment. But my dad reckons you can go without fixing it for ages (it only just started). But if i remember my mechanic said ti wasn't the chain but there was a bolt missing in the exhaust manifold causing it to rattle :doubt:
