I just installed a CD player from a 2001 VRX in my TS. It works fine except that it does not illuminate/light up when i have the headlights/parkers on.

Can anyone tell me if this cd player should illuminate when i turn on the headlights?

The problem is the cd player itself has no wire for illumination according to the wiring diagram i have, the only wire it has that i don't need is for a power antenna. But i do have one spare wire left in the wiring loom of the car which according to the wiring digram is either "Light Dimmer Wire" or "Headlight Light Illumintion"

So anyone got any ideas how i can get the cdpalyer to illuminate if it can?

im not too sure but im gunna through an idea out in the open.

wire that spare wire to ur accesories wire on ur ignition. that way, wen u turn the key to ACC, it will illuminate day/night. is probably better if its hard to see like early morning or late avo.

if not, wire it to the headlight switch wire. wenever u turn on the headlights, the cd player should get power through that wire also and illuminate.

just suggestions, hope they help

The wire he had left from the HU was the power antenna, the other spare was from the car loom not the HU. lol

It might have the illumination as an option you have to enable (like hold down button X for 3 seconds). I would go out and check my mums VRX but shes got the keys and its too late...come to think of it I cant remember it ever lighting up...but then again Ive never driven it in the dark.

Yeah bingo what mazza said, the HU has no illumination wire :(

And im pretty sure it would need to light up, coz i can't see jack **** at night so i have to feel around until i get the button i want or turn on the over head light.
Or maybe there is enough light from the surrounding components in a vrx that the cd player dosn't need its own illumination
