a while ago the transmission decided to die.
now the thing sis it almost happened overnight. as the next day i lost 2 gears just getting out of garage. drove it a few times and 3rd gear came back and dissapeared again.
i had it looked and the guy said burnt clutches + worn bands and some master cyclinder thing.
the few times i drove the car, went well but twice i lost everything, but after some playing the 2 gears i had left came back.
2 days ago , i drove the car again, and it changed into all gears correctly for like 5 mins and then bang 2 gears only
now can someone tell me whats wrong?

auto clutch worn + heat = missing gears..

Yeah i agree with Bain, maybe you need a new torque converter.

how do i know it's overheating?
so does that mean i dont need to change gearbox?

Im not saying its overheating.. Im saying that when a gearbox warms up (as all do) your clutch doesnt have enough grip to hold the gear when changing.. hence no gear..
I could be totally wrong though.

Thats what I have been told also, and as the clutch packs wearout they need less and less heat to start slipping, and soon they can no longer hold on to higher gears
Or they can go totally the other way... Mine needs heat to change smoothly.
