I got a 99 TH advance, recently the engine started ticking only when its cold, goes away when warm......also there is oil around the spark plugs.

What do these things mean?

Good chance the ticking noise is coming from the tappets/rockers(top of engine above heads). They might need an adjustment.
How many clicks ya done and are you using good engine oil.

No can do adjust tappets/rockers, give it a oil change and put in a oil at about a 5w/40.You will always have some slight ticking, but only when the bonnet is open and your there etc.,(should not be audible when your in the car)

hi with your tappets go to your mitsibushi dealer and ask them for some tappet oil.
it is very thick.
this will stop the noise instanly till your next oil change

why are you using 5w40 in it?

20w50 is more than enough.
