Hi guys! How are you all?
FINALLY I've managed to get the money and time to get a new head unit installed in my Verada. I'm getting it tomorrow and this is the unit I'll be getting...

It is a start and in time I'll be getting some new Pioneer speakers in the near future to match the unit...
Anyway, I'm excited and can't wait to pump music through the roof!!! :D

I wouldn't mind trading up to that but really can't be bothered pulling out my old deck and slotting in a new. My car audio is well and truely finished for this car :D
My new verada, now thats another story all together \:D/
Put the same head unit in my sons car who needs a stacker when you can fill up a CD with MP3's and WMA's.
Good unit
Enjoy it.

Well my friends...the unit is in and music is pumping out from the 6 speakers from my car!!!
One bloody thing I can't figure out and work out is how to work the WMA function!!! ](*,)
I tried playing a CD that contains 363 WMA files in it and it didn't work...so I tried to copy 20 songs into a CD-RW and tried to play it and that didn't work!!! :x
I don't know if I need a special software or something, but it's pissing me off! :x
I'm still gonna try to see if MP3 works... :)

Also some cd-players dont like cds being burned at high speed eg: 40x and above
Also some cd-players dont like cds being burned at high speed eg: 40x and above
well i can confirm that all of the above is ok for the DEH 5550MP..
I have a 48 speed burner..
I also have a a whole bunch of MP3's and WMV's at varying rates.. and it loves em all.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I will keep testing it at different speeds and different formats, etc... I still have to test the MP3, but I'm sure that'll work...it's just the WMA play back that is giving me the shits! I think I might call Pioneer to get more info too... :)
nightshadow,
could be somthing to do with microsoft's digital rights managment protection encoded into the .WMA files. I know that protected tracks will not play on a computer unless a 'licence' is downloaded onto that specific machine...mayhaps you should check and see if DRM tracks won't play and non-encoded ones will.

that deck is cool....
2 preouts front and rear however if u select it to run rears the sub output still works on it so u can use front rear and sub off 3 sep amps

why amp the rears for????
then the rears will be louder then the fronts and then u have mor sound coming from the back. ie do u go to a concert and face away from the stage

try running 5 way speakers of the deck drains the power. i have it setup so the sound is all balanced anyway.
i have the same deck and i absolutely love it - post some pictures of it installed if you can
also - i burn all my cd's at 52 onto TDK's -and no problem, i dont like wma - so i dont have any music ecoded as such, although mp3's i have in the 5 digits - so that's all that i really play in the car.

i have had exactly the same problem with my newly installed 5550 i made a cd of both mp3's and wma's but only the MP3's worked and 2 wma' which was direct from some studio that a friends band had recorded ...... i dunno if that makes any diferance ?? .i wqas thinknig maybe the wma's i have recorded off my albums possibly have a protection of somesort.
anyways pother than that this is a really nice deck ......... i especially like (even though i wont listen to the radio a whole heap ) the signal metres that indicate how much signal your are picking up hehe
and i really like the sub controls!!!! they r a must !!
heres a pic a took last week of my head unit installed
While waiting at my local autobarn store for some carpet to be cut for a new sub box which I'm building stumbled across this headunit. I've been after a good MP3 unit with a good price tag. I brought this unit for a measily price of $399! Will fit in TJ when I can be bothered, Also found out that aerpro also make a loom to connect factory wires to pioneer deck (Plug to Plug) :o Only costs about $20. It's much easier than cutting and solidering if your thinking about changing decks
that's a good price, I paid $430 for mine@Autobarn :)

429 is on special at autobarn at the moment ............. so below 400 is a very good deal!!
