got a few small problems in engine bay just thought i mention them and get some opinions on whether i need them fixing or if i can do them myself or just leave them for the time being.
around the rocker cover oil is starting to seep out and also seeping out from around oil cap. When i start the car up for the first few minutes the tappets are pretty noisy. after that they go quiet tho and dont hear them at all once the cars warmed up.
whats the go?

rocker cover gasket is simple to replace, and sounds like u need an oil cap as well. Gasket will cost i think somewhere between$5 - $15 genuine from mitsi, pretty simple to install.

replace your rocker cover gasket, genuine about 20 bucks and also replace your bolt seals as well.
The lash adjusters cause the noise, they will get worse with time so replacement is a good idea, they are about 19 dollars each.
The oil cap gasket is only about 3 dollars genuine.
As usual, being in Vic I am happy to have a look if you want.

well thats all nice and cheap.
the only thing i was really worried about was that the noisey tappets might cost a bit.
i know about everything except the lash adjusters. Where abouts are they and are they hard to change?

I have done a set of these a few years back to my ex-TR, might not be as simple as you think, in the rocker gear and if you have damaged adjusters then you may wish to check the specs on the whole cam gear. The noise is there when it's cold because as the engine heats up the metals expand, some more than others, might need some valve work, best advice, get hold of a service manual...gregories are better than haynes, factory manuals are the best, I have found most thing are explained clearly.
Good luck...

checked with a mechanic who says the noise is just the tappets trying to spray oil when the oil hasnt reached them yet. so no concern over them. Did the gaskets/seals last week was just too busy to put the pics on the computer and write it here. wasnt till i had the rocker cover off and was half way thru cleaning it before i thought of taking a pic but i did anyway.
probably shoulda put it the other way round as first pic is the after rather than the before.

got another question now.
whats the best way to remove the bolt from the bottom of the fuel filter?
had a try today but was too affraid that i was going to snap the fuel pipe going to the filter.
Why is it a metal pipe anyway? why dont they use something better?
