G'Day all.
I was reading one of the posts here (which I now cant find) regarding a possible recall on TJ's for brake squeel. Can anyone confirm this for me as mine is going in for the 45,000k service this week and suffers from it badly.

If MMAL is doing a recall, I'm sure they would let you know all about it if you asked your dealer about it when you book it in.
Your dealer should be happy to perform the recall for you as MMAL would have to pay them to perform the changes. More money for them!

My TJ squeals like a b**** from the rear, it's actually the handbrake.
Apparently there is a modified handbrake shoe (standard one with something ground off) that can be fitted. I havent found a Mitsu dealership that will confirm or deny this.

It's actually a softer compound handbrake shoe. They will do it for free if your car is still under warranty. Ask them to do it...

its a smaller diameter handbrake shoe.. mitsu sells the improved product.. so if u get a squeal/scrape noise while cruising at low speeds.. id say u need the imporved shoes fitted!

Yeah either that or you need to go for a 5 mile burn with the handbrake half on to wear the bugger down a bit!

my car was in today for the recent recall stuff ( got free in 10-20 minutes as nothing was wrong).
so I asked the guys if therre was a recall regarding the brakes for TJ= and they said they are not aware of it. so i think it was not a recall then.

It wasn't a recall. It's just a fix Mitsubishi did not publicise as it does not threaten public safety.
