what are peoples opinions on JBL speakers?
My brother wants fairly cheap 6x9s and front 6" (splits perhaps) for his TH, and im thinking of recommending him JBL gear as opposed to Pioneer/Kenwood cheap stuff as its only a little bit more $$.
I remember in my old car my JBL 6x4 inch 2 ways were very good for what they were.
I always thought JBL made very good speakers? Correct?

yeh in dads old magna (th) we had jbl all round they wer jbl-gto 300 i think...6.5's in the front a 6x9's on the parcel and they were clear, very responsive and handled power and you could throw anything at them and they sounded awsome.. i rekon ther a goer
Yeah I had some splits in my old VL. Sounded great, but the Sony HU wasnt powerfull enough to run them cranked right up.

My mate has JBL 6*9's just running of his deck and they sound sweet and can be picked up for a decent price then can be hooked up to a amp to achieve a better sound dont get Sony ****
So far as build quality goes they're okay but for similar money there is better sounding speakers around. :)

Any chance you could list a couple?
I had JBL's in my old car - was quite happy with them - but soon want to replace the stock speakers in the Magna.
Cheers
Well it largely depends on what genres of music you listen to but for the harder genres we tend to recommend:
Boston
Image Dynamics
Focal
Vibe
Phoenix Gold
while for the softer genres we recommend:
Eton
Morel
DyaAudio
Diamond
Rainbow

And are any of those in the same price range as the JBL's?

yep im with bain, is any of that stuff in the same price range as JBL? And is it as accessable as JBL gear.
I like to be able to walk into a shop and see the gear myself, not buy it over the internet.
Guys, I don't just blindly recommend things without reading and considering your posts.
Most of those brands have entry level equipment gear that retails from under $100 and up...

Thanks for your suggestions
The JBL's i was looking at were around the $180 - $300 mark (6x9's & 6" splits). I will take a look at the brands you mentioned.

I have a pair of 10" jbl subs in my tn.
I love them :) I just wish i had a decent amp to push them harder.
