Just wondering if anyone out there has had to change their power steering rack for whatever reason? Mine is leaking a fair amount of oil and i'm up for a new one.
Pedders are charging $465 just for the rack not fitted. This includes swapping your old rack. The new rack is a re-built rack. It isn't even new.

Has anyone else got any other ideas on places to look for these or prices of racks?

I got my car serviced bout 2 weeks ago

Mechanic told me that mine needs changing too, he sed its leaking fluid, however it'll last me till my next service (hopefully) as long as i keep topping up the power steering fluid.

He sed he cud change it but i'd hav to fork out $900

I'd also like to know where i can get it done for cheaper...$900 doesn't fall from trees :cry:

Cost of P/Steering Rack $311.35
Fitting of P/Steering Rack $225.00

...and the rack was a new one.

I live in Sydney and i had it done by Paul Wakeling Mitsubishi in Campbelltown. My car was in for a service at the time.
Paul Wakeling are convenient for me because they work on cars 24 hours a day, most of the time i drop it off when i finish work and pick it up in the morning.

Can get a steering rack for $420 cost price brand new genuine from Mitsubishi with no changeover with the old one. They usually try and sell them for $570 to the public.

Pedders wanted $465 for a re-built unit and they wanted your old one back for that price.

Those prices dont include instalation.
