I'm just looking for replacement speakers in the front dash for my TR and just want something that is relatively cheap ( $50 - $80) but that will be good, not awesome. The Kenwoods are $59 and the Pioneers are $79. I'm happy to pay $60 for someone to install them as I hear the TR's are a ***** to install in the front. Here are some of the 4" speakers I could get http://www.strathfield.com/Products.asp?CatID=168 So which ones you reckon?
P.S. I usually play bassy songs

4 inch speakers and bass dont really mix too well. But if you do not wish to install 6" speakers in the doors, I would go the Pioneers over the Kenwoods, just personal pref. It would be a good idea to audition the speakers if you can. If you have 6x9s in the back I would reccomend setting up a crossover for the 4" speakers so you can turn up the bass a bit more without the fronts distorting. A crossover is pretty cheap, $10 to $30 at Jaycar.
I have an old Toyota Tercel that I have done this to. There is a lot of difference in sound quality when the 4" speakers are not struggling to produce the lower frequencys. But you will need a sub or 6x9s to fill in the bass.

Just give the 4inches a miss and grab some 6inches and get the things from supercheap which go on the sides of your doors to install them which would end up quicker than trying to put in 4''s in a TR which I did and was a prick, also 6inches sound loads better and are only slightly more expensive
I might be overstepping the mark here but there are much better speakers around than Pioneer and Kenwood for a similar price.
For example:
Boston
Vibe
Hertz
Phoenix Gold
