Heya Fella's,

Im so sick of putting on rubber / plastic protector like armorall stuff only to have wash of with the first drop of water.

Is there any stuff that can be used of tyres and plastics that is waterproof?

Cheers
Blake

hey blake - if you are going for the pilbara effect - use some of our red dust - mate - that stuff is water proof - you try to wash it off and you can't!!

but that is only if you like the red look - i wash my car and within an hour there is a film or iron ore dust all over it - deep enough to see!! that really pisses me off!! kinda takes away the point of washing your car!!

Hey Blake, I put shoe polish on my tyres..works a charm..looks unreal...lasts ages (as long as u let it dry properly 1st) and it doesnt hurt the tyres.

Cost me 2 bucks at go-lo for a shoe polish kit that has heaps of shit in it!

ive always used just stuff you can buy like vinal polish or whatever, but just last weekend i bought this stuff called eagle one wheel polish or somthing , its expensive its in a clear bottle with clear gel inside. anyway besides being expensive you can spray it on and its kinda like a gel stuff. Anyway i found its really good and produces and really shiny black its great stuff. all my other car stuff like car wash and interior polish i found meguires stuff excellent, Btw i use a different polish for the tyres and another for the interior vinal. And you know never to polish the whole tyres with tyre polish just the side wall because if you polish the tread like an idiot you might find you now found slipperly tyres plant you into a wall or tree.

And i apply all this stuff after washing my car one a week but less now from the drought and only at a car lovers car wash.

Try the CRC tyre foam - works quite well.

I use Meguires Tyre gel, it's water resistant and lasts ages.

You can also get it in low or high gloss, depending on what you like :)

Mate, Eagel One make this tyre gel, and it comes with special applicator swipes, it lasts for a wash or two.

Something new that someone might want to try.

At my work there is a Vynil spray paint.

Sticks to the rubber fantastically and looks unreal. And seen as though it's paint it'd be pretty permanent too.

Someone I serve at work all the time is making a table out of an old 4WD tyre. Anyway she used the vynil paint on it and she said it looks awesome.

So there's an idea ;)
I might try it on an old shitty tyre I have in the backyard..then I'll do my spare...lol

I told her to take pictures of the table when it's done.

She's using the tyre as the base..and a tree stump in the middle of the tyre...we're talking a MASSIVE 4WD tyre here..

And then she's putting glass on the top of it..

Anyways...I'll take pics of my crappy tyre out the back..I'll grab a can 2morrow and paint it.

See if it's worth it or not.

Dont use Armoural on the trims... If it getson the paints it is very hard to get off to paint...
The previous owner of my car armouralled everything and all around the trims on hte outside had to be prepsoled back and rubbed back to allow the clear and polish to stick.

I've got Series 500 (read el-cheapo) tyre black stuff which you brush on with a paint brush. It gives a solid matt black finish. Use on tyres whose sidewall rubber has faded before using black Kiwi boot polish. That stuff is good, like Killbilly says it lasts for a while - mine usually around 2 months with a shine. :D

When I got my TN last year I did the tyre balck/Kiwi boot polish routine on all 4 tyres and they came up sweet. When you get new tyres (like I did in January for my Corolla) give 'em a coat before they get dirty, this way the shine will last longer. 8)

This routine won't work for white sidewall writing - you gotta use the more expensive stuff like Meguiars etc. for that.

Dad uses this pure silicon aerosol stuff he gets from work. Comes up nice and black and water has no effect on it. :) The sun does though :( , but all is good when he re-washes the car.
