ok so why is it so hard to put a very simple bracket mount set up in the magna's? why do us poor people have to go through hours of swearing and drinking beer trying to take the whole dashboard apart just to change a simple head unit, then spend another couple of hours putting it all back together again. Now granted after you've done it once and worked out how to do it its alot quicker the next time around.. but certainly will never be as quick as a simply putting in two little keys, and pulling it out...
ok now that i've got that out of my system, im goin for a drive with my new stereo :D

Sorry but not everyone is a "good" as you watchme lol
For first timers the centre consoles can be a real pain but its not too bad once you get your head around it and do it a few more times.
Glad to see your magna is now pumpin the tunes

a) because i have pretty good knowledge about cars, but my practical skills arent isactly first rate and b) i have a TL and with TL's the face plate and the centre air con vents are all one thing (whereas with the previous models the air vents was a separate panal) and the problem i had was to do with the air vents being a pain.
I got myself a clarion 50Wx4 MP3 player, some clarion 160W 2way 6.5inch front speakers and some alpine 250w 6x9 3ways. I realise the 6x9's are slight overkill atm because they are only running off the head unit, but an amp is on the way at some stage in the future as long as some component speakers for the front instead of the clarion ones i have atm. I might put the clarions in the rear doors when that happens.. mainly for the wank factor :P
Pretty happy

Now I know why Mitsu were so reluctant to change over my head unit in my TJ VR-X. And they left a small scratch on the surrounds. idiots.
Actually, [with the VR-x series II unit] does anyone else notice that the fm reception is crap in places.. and you get a weird situation where the high frequencies get all chopped up.. the ones coming out of the door/side mirror tweeters? Freakin annoying.
Must be a dodgy unit. The high frequencies must get chopped around by what I used to call a cross-over? Anyone? :D

Yeah, my FM sucks. I was disappointed in the stereo. It was not as good as the one in my TR Verada. It's funny cos there is a warning in the manual about possible bad reception. They say it is someting to expect but I think it's just a crap stereo.

blake u ever heard of a service manual? kinda helps compared to just yanking on anything that u can grab ur hands onto and hope it comes out.
ah k.. getcha. would expect it to be pretty similar just all a one piece. hardest bit is removing that cord for the aircon.. just take it out from under drivers footwell. that gives it some extra leeway to get it off from the facia.
