hi all here are the new brakes that went in today..........
1x AWD front caliper from wreckers.
1x AWD front caliper from mitsu
294mm RDA slotted rotors up front
V4 EBC Greenstuff pads up front
bendix ultimates on rears (all else standard on rears).
This was a saga trying to find a second caliper - which included a bogus caliper that was meant to come from sydney from a wrecker who had an AWD :doubt: (was lost in the mail lol ) i could not find any wrecked AWD's in Australia other than the two in Brisbane.
anyways, all up installed was around the $1300 mark, that was with trade price on everything (the most expensive bit was the 2nd caliper from mitsu @470  ). V. lucky that a friend just opened a car shop :D
The difference in braking is huge! pedal feel is excellent, sharp, and the more you press the harder they stop, it feels like a whole different car (can feel eyes being sucked from sockets when braking hard). very happy with them and i recommend them to anyone who wants a good brake upgrade.
also had an oil change to Fuchs GTO full synthetic - runs smoother and ridded engine of most of that nasty magna ticking noise at idle.

I have a TF 3L 5sp and just bought a TJ2 AWD and the braking is from another world! :bowrofl: My car actually feels like its going to stop in time!
Did you transfer the Braking Distribution crap too? Who dreamt this load of s**t up?

I didnt change the brake distribution setup - what exactly does it consist of? (im assuming this controls the bias between front and back??)

Good! Its best left alone. I'm led to believe that it will provide braking bias to *any* wheel as necessary (which is different to 'as desired :doubt: '). I'd like to pull the fuse, it creates a jittery and wobbly feeling during braking when cornering hard.

when braking do u get feedback through the pedal when braking hard?
I have an AWD and im looking at fitting them or dba gold slotted and drilled, can you give me the disk part numbers.

You will find all 3rd Gen magnas have the electronic brake force distribution :P, I am led to belive it only controls front/rear brake bias, not left to right.

feedback is pretty good with this setup - once the pads a warm, they take a little bit to get going.
I didn't get the part no. from RDA, here is their contact number - 1800 880 155. I went with RDA because you can use them with EBC greenstuff - DBA you cannot.
AWD rotors from DBA use the base part no.s 417 (fronts) and 429 (rears) , then you specify slotted or golds.

each front slotted rotor was about $190. this is trade price however, they retail for approx. $240 each i think. so shop around.
rear discs i left standard.
RB - I dont have a contact, only spoke to RDA once - that number connects to the local distributer, I never talked to the head office which i think is melbourne based.

RDA AWD rotor numbers are: 7625 for the front and 7624 for the rear. This is for standard ones, not slotted.
Does anyone know the EBC Green Stuff and EBC Black Stuff pads part numbers and prices?

Yes. That's why I had issues fitting the AWD rears to my TF.

awd rears are 10mm larger for a start, but still single piston and solid disc.
jowet, redav, did u have abs before and does it still work? this is my biggest worry with a brake upgrade...

Because they're a different size. The AWD rear rotor and Ralliart rotor aren't the same unit. The calipers are.

Are you talking 10mm larger diameter or wider disk? They aren't solid, they're ventilated.

He should have, I didn't. You won't have an issue.

probably different offset for the awd and r/a disc or maybe the r/a is vented and awd solid, they same same size tho from what ive read.
Im intrested in the RPW upgrade, they say the abs will still work, but id like to hear from anyone who has them.

No, AWD rear rotors are not solid.
I think it's the offset that's the issue. I ended up using the hubs from an AWD. I tried asking Mitsu and they said no, nothing works. I then asked three seperate service departments for part numbers and only two of them would help. I determined that the calipers were the same and the rotors were different but one place said that it wasn't right. Mitsu are useless.

Been doing a bit of research on this as part of the recent group brake buy.
AWD/Ralliart front rotors the same, 294mmx24 vent. DBA 417 SL & SR Slotted $150each. Front calipers twin pot.
Standard front 276x24 vent
AWD only, rear 284mmx20 vent. DBA 429 Mitsu 128661
Ralliart only, rear 284mmx20 vent. DBA Not Avail (did lots of checking), RDA Not Avail (actually the guy I spoke to didn't know of ralliart), Mitsu 926020.
Standard 258x10 solid
The best info so far on why the AWD and Ralliart rear aren't interchangeable is that the Ralliart has a different hand brake set up. The AWD handbrake setup is same as FWD.
It would be Really Really Really good if an AWD and Ralliart owner would be up for this check to be carried out, If any takers in brissy I'll do the labour. Benifit, if they do fit the Ralliarts would be able to get upgraded discs.

That info is different to what I found out.
There is an AWD rear rotor from RDA and I asked about the Ralliart and he didn't have a listing. The Ralliart handbrake setup is the same as the FWD cars. It's the AWD that is different. Seeing as though I have the AWD hubs on my FWD TF, I know I've got that part right.
