i'm looking at getting slotted disks for the front of the car as one of them is warped to the s#*t house(running metel on metel until all the brakes do is grind, peddel on or off for a week is not good!!!).

what i want to know is:
1. how much they cost.
2. whats a good brand.
3. how hard are they to install(if i choose to install them)
4. whats the size of the disks.

thanks all

Slotted disks are btween $150-$300 depends what you want, i just machined my standard disks and stuck lucas racing pads in it, pads cost me $100 for all 4 trade price and disks where 60 for all 4 machined trade price, took about 2 hour from start to finish..

I have slotted discs all round (dba im assuming). I have no idea how much or how hard to install coz they were already on the car when i brought it.
But damn did i notice them the first time i hit brakes, very responsive.

IF you really want to make the car stand on it's end with braking there's s/steel braided lines and fresh brake fluid to add to the list. Budget around $200 minus labour.

Oh and has anyone done a twin piston caliper conversion ?

DBA slotteds will cost about 110 each for front and about 160ea for rear.
The stainless braided hoses can be used for street use so long as someone like ABS makes them to be legal. True to a great brake response however remember to be effective all pipes, that is 8 of them have to be changed.
Another great mod is the twin pots of the ABS Verada/Magna, have done this one a few times now, is sensational

I have slotted installed and have twin spot calipers. Excellent response in braking however if you drive them hard they warp just as much as standard rotors. I'm now getting rid of my slotted DBA's and replacing them with DBA 4000's. These stand much higher temperatures to avoid them warping. If you can find DBA slotted for $110 then you're doing alright.

Cheers

hey guys,

i was just talking to my mechanic about upgrading to the dba 4000s(i think that was them, are they the yellow ones?). he told me to get the best out of them i need to upgrade the brake pads to advance sports(i think thats sounds right...). anyone got that kind of setup on thier magna? i have been quoted $150 for the dba disks(that is the cross ventelated ones), does that sound resonable?

thanks guys

I didn't think you could get the 4000's on the 2nd gens? infact from the datasheet, it says they only make the 294mm on the 4000's, which are for the AWD/Ralliart versions.

As for the brake pads, Advance Sports doesn't ring a bell, who makes them???

There are Bendix Advance, but they don't have "Sports" on them.
