I just had mine done in Solace Formula 1 - its a metallised finish - not too dark and it gives a greenish brown look to the car - a bit classier than the usual charcaol grey. Cost is usually 395ish for the top stuff and 200ish for the cheap stuff from a reputable agent. To find one try this place:
http://www.iwfaa.com.au/
they've a state/postcode search engine.

If anyone has a genuine interest in getting their magna/car tinted please feel free to PM me with your queries and ill get back to you asap. To let u all know, ive been tinting for 2 yrs and have worked for the majorty of that time for a large franchise company called Solace, which is a highly regarded tinting franchise. I like to do an extra job on the weekends for myself as the 9-5 weekday job itself doesnt pay that well, therefore im keen if you're keen
getting back to what you asked MadMik, there are hundreds of types of films available (from my company's manufacturer alone) ranging in colour, darkness, quality, solar properties,... and as far as cost goes it all depends on the car and film you want, and also whether the car has film on it already but for you guys on here i will always do it at mates rates and i will always do an excellent job. so far i have done 2 guys' cars from AMC and they were both happy, if you want to ask them they were bales and Altera98.
If you want to know anymore jus PM me.
Cheers
Craig

My apologies for taking so long to post a PiX - the camera's been touring Northern Queensland with friends and only came home last night. Anyway here's the general shots showing the tint's darkness and the colour of the stuff...

I know bales well (my gf is his sister) and his tint looks tidy.
When I get some more cash in the bank i'll be looking at getting 20% rated tint. :D

got a different film on it to bales' car, a touch darker and slightly reflective. This film also cost a bot more.

Hot - yes, very ... but climate control fixes that - much better than the standard Magna aircon! :D

:doubt: yeah but nothing beats a cash price, and for those who are sceptical of "back-yard jobs" the jobs i do in my own time are of the same, if not higher quality that i do at my work, and believe me it has to be ***n high (we do all of North-City, Lynfod, Giants.., vehicles to name a few), plus u will not find many shops that do sub-legal limit tinting, and if so they do without warranty.

Hey guys I got the Formula 1 plus tint on my car and its great. Its a metalised film. Reason is and be careful when getting a 'cheap' tint is cos cheaper ones use the ink in the film and after a few years it fades and is not as effective and will also get a purple tinge to it that you see on some people cars who tried to save money. The cheap stuff will only last about 5 yrs before it starts fading wheres the metalised stuff wont fade as quick. I think mine has a 25 yr anti fade guarantee. I paid $395 and got Tint-a-car to do it
Oh BTW there is a legal limit to how dark you can go which is 35%. Yes you can get darker but if cops catch you they will defect you and there goes your money cos you will have to rip it all off. And the reflective mirror tint is definately illegal now. Hope this helps

I got SolAce tint for $345. 35% on all windows except the back, where I got 20%. They were cool with doing that and they gave me full warranty. because the back window is so big it lets more light in, so having the darker tint balances it up.
Did they rip off your old tint?? or does that cost extra?

u have to remove ANY and ALL the old film from the windows that need re-tinting before u can re-tint a car and it usually costs extra.
BTW, i work at a Solace branch, and V-REX, dude, i dont know if there is a bigger mark-up in the east but i think u got shafted with that price, even for F1 film.

No he's spot on for here (Sydney) - F1 is $395 for a Magna sized car at Solace. Removal of old film is usually another $100 here - but they will deal a bit - I got the removal and the film done for $450 altogether.

my profile will tell u that im not in NSW, in perth mate. but some advice on darker films, dont bother with getting a different grade on the rear screen, jus go something like 20 or 28 all round as 1 window isnt gonna make much difference to the whole car. I did 20 grade on a guys car off the forum over here and it looked good but not too dark at the same time.
