I've finally sourced the parts required to drop a Digital dash into my car. The reason behind it is that it is cheaper than getting an aftermarket oil pressure guage...

Pics will follow after it's in and live.

Wouldnt you be better off sorting out your suspension woe's rather than sticking in a digital dash?

That has been done. Shocks at the rear have been changed, which was my worst problem.

is this a custom digital (like the dakota hot rod clusters) or something out of a different magna? my sis has digital dash in her Telstar tx5 Ghia... looks damn cool, especially the speedo with numbers instead of the needle

It's the instrument cluster that came standard on the 1985-1990 Elite. The reasons for the changeover are a couple.
1) My fuel guage has gone nuts, leaving me dry twice.
2) The total cost of parts for changeover is $10 more than the analogue cluster.
3) I need an oil pressure guage, and these came with one.

When i was car hunting i nearly bought a 1st gen elite and it is cool. The main reason why i didn't buy it was cuz the digital speedo cut out whilst test driving, then cut back in at 70 in a 50 zone :O. Would be cool to make a custom 2nd or even 3rd gen tacho etc thats digital, i couldn't imagine it being very hard for someone with an electronic back ground.

Hehe that brings back memeories. My mum had one of those in her elite back in the late 80's early 90's. Was cool to watch, used to make the car feel like a spaceship :D (this was back when i was in primary school mind you).

It was burgandy (2 tone i think?) with that really nice burgandy interior. Probably would have cost her a bit too as she bought it when it was only a few years old.
Think we only got about a $5000 trade in on it in 93 as the engine and transmission were pratically stuffed. Traded it in for a laser :(

What model you have? I've had to replace the sensor in the tank once already (at about 30,000km) cause it was giving really stupid readings - I'd fill it up, drive 2 blocks and then it'd say it was empty, then turn a corner and it'd go back up to half way sorta thing.

TP. They're all reknown for dodgy fuel guages.
