has anybody changed the LEDs that light up the instrument panel (is that what you call it? the whole speedo/rev counter thing)? i wanna change mine from the dull yellowish light to bright white ones. anybody has an idea where they sell such white LEDs and how much it costs to put them in? better, can it be easily DIY?

you don't have to buy new lights you just buy colured light socks u can get them in blue,red and green and they come in the two sizes,they slip over the actual lights(like socks ;) .just ask at your local auto shop

Hey Spready - Thats what I did!!!

The instrument cluster turned a slight green - not very much though - but the centre console turned a bayb shit brown yellow sorta colour - so the best thing to do would be to get the LED's

But if u are after teh globe condoms - you can get them from repco

Just a thought ... I sell EL Glow wire....
Im thinking that you could run it around behind the panels ...and thus not have the spot effect that some people who have changed them have.
If I get e chance to ill try it on the weekend... I have a red EL Wire in stock atm and Ill try it with that.

say make the water/fuel guages orange, speedo green and tacho blue

The EL Wire stuff can be cut and joined easily... you could do it in the three colours no worries..
Ill try the red first and see what it looks like...
Im mainly want to try the temp control one, because in the Sports they are white/blue while the instrument is red... So Im going to make the temp control red as well.

Who had the pictures of the dials with blue leds behind?????? They said that the light was uneven... and you could see it in the pics...
I plan on removing the clear plastic backing behind the temp controller and then running the EL Wire... Ill take some pics of hte install and let you knwo how it goes as well...
I have been playing around with a white face conversion for the centre panel as well ... I have mad it but not put it in ... no spare time ... but now "TBuTcher's Ride" is drivable I have abit of time now :)

do you mean the thinks you turn... or the actual bit of plastic that the light shines through?
If you mean the plastic thing .. I have made a white one that Ill take some pics off and show you guys once I get them installed.. hopefully this weekend.
I plan on putting the red behind it .. unsure what this will look like :D

the first thing i noticed was the steering wheel, not the cd player :roll: :roll:

nar mine is silver again,

original colour was silver

painted pearl black......

looked crap,

painted it silver,

now its silver again, and its staying silver 8)
