i found these diagrams in the manual, just wondering if this means that manual conversion will still have cruise control 100% as factory intended? (as long as i've got the switch for the clutch pedal?)
c'mon u electronics engineers... i wanna have this pretty much 100% planned before it all goes ahead

Are the cruise ECU's different between models then?
EDIT: well just looking at that, it just seems like if the car isn't in gear (in N...or clutch IN) then the sensor says the "car is not in gear", etc. So providing it's rewired, it shouldn't matter.

it seems that it is pretty much a straight swap over plus the Clutch unit.
wiring diagrams would be better though.

here we go.. it all looks like jargon to me, but if anyone can decifer it be my guest!

All you need to do is to re-route that wire going to the inhibitor switch and instead goes to the clutch switch.

The manual seems to be easier, it by-passes the Engine Control, so as long as you have the Clutch switch and rewire it so that you're connected to the Manual side, you should be fine. Other than that, it's a straight swap over.

so if i get the switch that comes from the manual, would i be able to just unplug the auto one and plug in the manual one?

i'm not sure how "plug-and-play" it is because i've never seen the plugs before, but the wire is, so worse case is just to snip the plug and somehow directly wire it up

Luv this stuff.
looking at the diagram the wire in question (black with red stripe)for the auto goes from pin 13 of cruz ECU plug101 and is spliced to the wire that runs to pin 10 plug A89 of the inhibitor s/w. This wire may not be visable at the inhibiter s/w it will depend were it has been spliced in the wiring harness.
The manual runs a Green with black stripe wire from the same pin on cruz ecu to the plug B41 pin 19 then on to clutch s/w.
Now I know the above has been said but to show that it doesn't look plug and play, I had to.
The reason it isn't a matter of plug swaps is the diagram shows only the manual wiring thru pin 19 of B41 and the auto completly seperate, it may be a stuff up and the auto might go thru B41. If you follow the harness from the cruz ecu plug back a little you'll come to a connector this is B41 check for a wire in pin 19 it should be empty(auto) if it has a black/red stripe wire then it's a good chance they stuffed up and you can slice that one.
Failing this go straight to the cruz ecu plug pin 13 and splice into it for the manual clutch s/w. providing you disconnect the inhibitor s/w connector (As you will anyway) then you wont get any accidental parallel switching.
I've attached the connector layouts to help with pin ID.
Pm if you want a better explaination as this is a bit rough.
Cheers
