Just looking on ebay and america have lots of 1st gen diamante stuff cheap, hi-flow straight through mufflers for $30 US, diamante headlights for $30 US each. What i want to know is this, will the diamante headlights fit straight into our magna headlights slots? i know a few of you guys have done this and i'm interested in what needs to be done. Cuz the lights look cool.

Hi
I always thought that i had verada lights, i was just looking at mine the other day and noticed that they have a diamante sticker on them.
they fitted straight in. only had to re wire the parker lights. (easy)
are these the ones you like!!

There are 2 types of Diamante lights.
There are the smaller ones found in some jap and all US models which have a chrome surround, encompassing the indicators:
http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~baker/monster/images/mycar.jpg
And there are the type that are identical to the KS Verada, such as the ones I bought TZABOY:

Yea the parabolics (verada/diamante/whatever) headlights are awesome.. Looks 1 million times better than the standard TR headlights, and are way better at night.
Leigh if your gettin Diamante Headlights, make sure that theyr Not the ones that are supposed to have the chrome surrounding. Because those are a little bit smaller to make room for the chrome bit on the top and bottom.
Unless of course you are going to get the whole front end chrome bit, and indicators etc.
I personally prefer the KS Verada look to the Diamante. And the parabolics work better than the headlights on the Diamante.

Yeh those are the ones. Will the headlights fit into our slot without indicators? (ie. keep my indicators and just use the diamante headlights?). I dont want the chrome one so yeah i'm after the non chrome ones. they do look pretty shweet, just gotta decide whether i REALLY want them :P. Got a few days to think about it anyway. Also is it easy to find bulbs for these lights here in oz? cuz i dont wanna have to import bulbs everytime one blows :(. Also how much are the KS Verada lights going for at the wreckers? i might find out how much postage from america would be and then work out whats cheaper.
Also off topic, does anyone know an exhaust place in victoria that will INSTALL a DECENT cat-back system for less than $300?

KS Headlights are as rare as hens teeth at the wreckers. Good luck finding one. They should
be anywhere from $150 to $300 a pair. Bulbs are pretty much standars. They are the same
ones as the Magnas. The 3rd gen parab ones use different bulbs.

Putting them in is a peace of piss. just undo 4 nuts and take old ones out and the new ones fit straight in. Yeh your old indicaters still fit perfect.
i got mine from a wreckers for $50 each, they are in perfect condition.

Sweet what wreckers did you get them from? it'd probably be easier and cheaper to get them for $50 each here then to import them cuz postage would be pretty costly.

Just an update -
Justjap looked promising but they never got back to me :(. I can get a pair of american diamante headlights from america for $50 a pair US + postage, BUT they come from the one with the chrome surround. Will these fit in my car and just have a gap or will they not fit at all? If they do fit i could always somehow fill in the gaps with blue plastic or fibreglass or something :doubt: :confused:

Has anyone thought about the light pattern, US is the opposite direction in driving as us, the light pattern will be opposite to us, you go put US headlights in AUS cars, and you'll be glaring the on-coming traffic, dunno how hard it is to change the blast to counter act this, maybe it's where Heathyoung comes in.

ANOTHER UPDATE -
The NZ motor trader site has a few pairs of Diamante headlights cheap as! I've seen these on '91 diamante and they have NO chrome surround, so i can only assume that these are identical to the non chrome ones i want (they look awesome in the auctions photo).
ALSO, Killbilly, I have just discovered NZ had a 2.5L V6 DOHC 24 valve engine in their "2nd gen magnas" diamante, i'm thinking that engine may be a good investment, depending on what else i'll need for it, do you know or know anyone that would ahve a clue what the specs are on that engine, whether i'd need new mounts or trans etc.

if by 'diamante non chrome surround' u mean the KS Verada headlights then thats a good price.
Just make sure they are not the Diamante ones and it just doesnt come with the chrome surroundfing. Cause then thatd be a waste.

getting em imported from new zealand,
I have photochopped them onto my car with the new grill i'm currently working on (the actual grill will look better :P).
These are the EXACT lights i'm buying, taken from the photo given by the seller, just deciding whether to go the black look or colour code them or maybe even go chrome surround?
Please note that this is an old pic of my car therefore i quickly made the bumper look painted (it is metallic silver now). Also my skill at trying to put blue in the lights was pretty bad but you get hte idea.

Hii,
I've just bought a KR wagon and this is my first post here.
I really like the look of the KS verada / Diamante lights and I was wondering how you got on with your project. Any more details on where you got your lights and how much did they end up costing you? And were they easy to put in? Did the grille come with the lights or was it separate and how much did it cost?
Any info would be great,
Cheers

First off WELCOME to the AMC :).
I started the project a while ago and i decided not to spend any more money on my car, but now i'm actually re-thinking of getting the lights for $130 AU + postage because they are still available. The grill was a custom grill i'm working on (still am but it's kinda a postponed project until i learn some fibreglassing, soon hopefully). anyway my current grill looks like this
http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12102, i can get you a plain black grill for $26 including postage off a guy from ebay. You can then paint it if you like. If you like my grill design and i actually end up finishing it, i may be able to make up a second 1 if you're interested. But this will be probably after xmas.
More to answer your questions, the KS early diamante parabolics fit to our cars with no problem at all (a slight electrical mod is required i think, but it's only small). The grill is seperate to the lights but, the later diamante headlights that are the same only slightly smaller, come with a chrome surround all the way around the front of the car, the front grill on these ones do come with the lights, it is like the KS verada grill only chrome. I dont have a picture of this sorry but maybe someone on here does that they could share?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply
Is that $130 pp for all the lights? Then I might be interested, just gotta watch the dollars so close to xmas. Might give the grill a miss atm though.
Just to clarify my wagon is a V3000 executive - build 10/93 and it has KR in the VIN no. so I'm not quite sure what it is. After days of research on the net, I can't quite track it down. For people in the know the VIN no is 6MMKR6D....... I would be interested to find out exactly what it was.

Sounds like you have the 3L DOHC engine in your car. I'm not exactly sure what a V3000 is, all i know is that they look the same as magnas and i think its just another name for them. I know NZ has V3000's and stuff from them fits 2nd gen magnas. Anyway that said, your headlights should already be parabolic, as V3000's came out stock with them. If you are in australia i'd say that your car is most likely imported from japan or new zealand.

Find a magna wreckers and ask for KS verada head lights. They'll charge about $300 a pair though. 1991 Diamantes came with KS verada head lights stock but you'll have to get them imported from somewhere, such as NZ or maybe Japan. The guy i was hoping to buy off dissappeared :nuts:

DOHC = Double OverHead Cam.
These engines weren't available in Australia. They're far superior to the SOHC (Single OverHead Cam) motors that were stock in the V6 TR/TS's.
They're a bit of an engima as there aren't that many around, and I think mine is still the only one with one in it that's running thus far.
The DOHC's had from 202-220 hp, and the SOHCs were about 160hp if I remember correctly.
If that's not a good enough explaination, let me know and I'll get into the nitty gritty details for you ;)

Basically means, if you have the DOHC engine (which i'm 95% sure you would being a NZ/JAPAN import), than your engine ****s all over the standard aussie SOHC version.

The first bit is explained earlier. I can give you a fairly good rundown on the code, but don't take it verbatim
Using the example quoted earlier, 6MMTP4D45LA1170, I'll explain the various numbers
6 = Aust
M = Mitsubishi
M = Passenger Vehicle
T = T Series Magna
P = The model in the series
4 = Fuel injected Automatic
D = Executive specification
45 = Wagon
LA = Year of manufacture (Yours should be OA or something similar, but don't quote)
1170 = The particular body
The example quoted was a fuel injected, automatic 1990 TP Executive Station Wagon

sounds like it was built here in australia for the NZ export program, then it was imported from nz. Beind an aussie built car i assume it'd be SOHC, i think the ones in japan are DOHC. Dont quote me on this as my understanding was NZ got its cars from japan, cuz i think all the diamantes i've seen (dunno about v300 though) in NZ are DOHC, maybe diamante is from japan and v3000 is just the aussie version?
