See Pic below - the left hand side is pretty much like my engine bay - I want to get one of the Verada style covers as in the right hand side of the pic. Anyone know the part number for this? Cost? Will it fit straight in?

It will fit but the Verada's have special clips on their front rocket cover to screw the cover too. Yours doesn't. I think yours has the screw holes for the rear screws though. Also, i think yours misses a few other clips that helps hold the cover in place.

no need to buy a new rocker cover, it can be secured well enough using just the parts outlined here: http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3564&highlight=engine+cover

I'll have to call on Ralliart Boy to confirm this as it was he that took great pride and satisfaction in letting me know that his engine cover was the real deal because it wasnt a sticker.

I got one of these for my magna, it costed me $53 (i think) I had the choice of getting a verada one, a Sports one, A AWD one or a VR-X one. I chose the sports, i got sick of it and painted it. THe middle bit is a cheap sticker it came off no worries. Its now stuck on my wall at home :P

Yeah, when I got mine the cover came with the sticker allready on, if you secure the cover correctly with all the other clamps/clips & bolts the rocker cover is unecessary.
Another part that compliments this really was is the battery cover with lid.

My m8s dad owns and runs a Battery World franchise near me. He tells me that the idea of that battery lid is to keep hot air out, but what happens is the hot air goes under it and gets trapped. Not good for battery, hence why when i put my new battery in i left the cover off. And it makes it easy acess to my circit breaker 2 :D

Yeah okay in theory but the Magna battery cover is vented - there's a hole in the lid!

This must be why they no longer come standard on later TJ's.

I was thnking about getting one, and dropping a few extra holes at the top of the back wall section. It should receive cool air from behind the headlight into the front of the box, so if you drilled some small holes in the back, this should allow the fresh air to flow through the box and cool it. Drill them at the top as hot air rises.
Also, off topic a bit, but also to help the battery... A mate's old man has a HR Holden which is looked after well. What he has done is placed some thin sheets of styrofoam around the battery to act as insulation. He reckons this helps the battery life a bit, as his old 186 is worked a bit, and produces a lot of heat under the bonnet. since he's had the car for the last 30 years or sumthin, he's gone through a few batteries, so I reckon what he says would be correct.
Cheers,
