I have seen a few +90mph terminals on magnas, this indicates a very low 15 or even a 14 with a great 60ft and drive! Has anyone put some really wide rubber on the front, or even street slicks, for the drags?

only person i kno who's run street slicks is TT magna

I am looking into buying slicks for a set of 16s I have sitting in the garage just for a drag day, only problem is the ones I want are 305 wide!!! They will physically fit on rim, but I am not sure of my turning circle once on.

305 is tuff! i also mean really stiff suspention things like that.
a mid 90mph terminal should be about to get a 14 with a very good drive.

Dragstrip = What corners?

Well after you put the tyres on at the meet, then you have to still drive around to the strip itself, but it should be alright though.
I am thinking making up a pipe to take out the cat for drag days.

Dang. My trap speed was over 90mph and all I could manage was just under a 15.5.

i thought for the drag strip you put a softer setup on so the car transfers its weight better thus giving it more traction.. thats what i've heard you do for RWD cars anyway.. maybe its different for FWD..

I would think hard would be the way for FWD.
And Redav you prolly just waste too much time changin' gears... get an auto.... jk
(but at least you've gone to the drags - I haven't yet)

just take the cat out and leave it.. its what most do, its called a dropped exhaust :P

to setup a fwd car for dragging you want a VERY stiff rear, like someone said previously you want the weight to stay on the front and keep the car as level as possible. Drop the exhaust by taking out the cat all together, borrow some wider, smaller rolling radius tyres (maybe from a oldish falcon) if you have say 205/60r15 then you want 205/55r15 or 205/50r15 to get the rolling radius down, this effectivly increases your diff ratio a little. may make it harder to launch a tad but if you have wider fronts like say 255/40r15's then there should be more grip or around the same.... i want to see a NA magna get a 14

im in the proses of getting 26x8x15s sicks there dunlop $365 each but the wheels are only 7 wide so im getting the wheels widedend for 110 each. i have stiff shocks so ill see how i go when we have the amc meet

mmm? I got 15.555 with a 87.5mph.
I didn't bother with slicks (could borrowed some from a mate), but when I threw on my steelies with bald Pirellis they were down to about 24psi each... I just left them there, & had SFA wheel spin.. cut .34s off my best from last time.
. Drop the exhaust by taking out the cat all together
And this will achieve what exactly? a whole lotta noise....thats about it...if anything it will hinder your power.
Fair enough drop your exhaust, IF you've tuned your engine to that......A stock engine with no exhaust will run ****house. Why? no back preassure.
I've been around motorbikes, (2-stroke and 4-stroke) for years, take off an expansion chamber on a 2-stroke bike and take it for a ride and see what happens. Take off the muffler on a 4-stroke STOCK roadbike, and see what happens. Untuned N/A engines require backpreassure to work properly.
And before you say "but thats motorbikes"......how does it matter, their both combustion engines.
you'll find that most V8's running no exhausts down the 1/4 are f*cking tweaked off their heads.

you just proved you know absolutly nothing
100's of times i have seen 100% stock cars get better times with dropped exhausts. back pressure is only for torque down low in the revs, and ur well above low revs in a drag race. stick to ur bikes samuria

oh and it matters on a bike because unless your revving the tits of it, a bike needs every ounce of torque it can muster up, and backpressure and tuned exhausts are needed for that.
You need torque to get moving. Power's just pretty, if there's no torque, you're not gunna move fast.

and its not like u lose torque if you drop your exhaust anyway
plus you launch with the inertia of the flywheel if your trying to get the best time.
back pressure is only for torque down low in the revs
oh and it matters on a bike because unless your revving the tits of it, a bike needs every ounce of torque it can muster up
so basically from what u said, backpreassure from having an exhaust on creates more torque........and yet....
and its not like u lose torque if you drop your exhaust anyway
u managed to contradict yourself in 2 seperate posts seperated 2 hours apart....
so who knows absolutely nothing

you have enough back pressure from headers (extractors) alone. its proven that u run better times with dropped exhausts, higher mph and faster terminal.
on bikes, they exhuast is pretty much the headers, they are tuned length in most cases. in a car the exhaust is only to quieten down the engine and to flow gas to the rear of the car. the headers and downpipe is for backpressure.
well if thats the case....then why if u fit a 3" CAT back system to a Suzuki Swift, will it lose power and run ****ter than with a standard system?
This is assuming what u have said is true about the headers providing enough back pressure alone.
u seem to know all, so please explain.

it wouldn't run worse, cat back that is.
have you ever heard of someone doing that? its just not cost effective thats all. my car NA had a 2.5 inch mandrell exhaust from the tiny cast headers, went fine, better than standard. experiance is better than idiots at maccas saying it will happen
u better stop hangin out at maccas then......

Greetings All.
Ok...Turbo_Charade...You've gotta learn to accept the facts. A droped exhaust is only good if it is droped from a car designed to have no zorst (such as hardcore dragster and the like).
I can tell you, that if I put a 3" cat-back exhaust on my car as it is now, and run it down the strip, Id have a slower time overall, due to power losses. You NEED back pressure. That way the exhaust gets sucked out of the engine.
You've also gotta wake up, and realise that yes, Booya DOES have a high powered machine, no matter which way you look at it...Im sorry for being a little harsh, but the truth does hurt...
