Lately I have been hearing a slight creak coming from the rear of my car - when I go over slightly bumps in the road.

I have WD40'd the sway-bar bushes to see if it was these - this may have helped a little, but not much. Could it be the shocks?

hehe my car has sqeaked and made grinding noises ever since i bought her, i hear a squeak as well going over bumps, i hear alot of other cars do it too, not sure if its a problem, maybe just old shocks? but i've heard newer cars squeak too :S. I dont really know the cause but all i know is its pretty common.

hey, mine does the same thing, is this a common problem for our aging 2nd gen magna? lol what i have in mind is the trailing arm bushes, mine isn't cracking yet, but after swinging up and down for 11 years it might get tired.

i'd say it's some bushes somewhere, maybe shocks

do your bushes first 'cause they like to perish after about 10 years then if you have no luck, replace the shocks

hope you get it sorted

This can be several things

The upper mounts for the shocks tend to goran after a while

The rear arm bushes will if they are starting to let go as well.

If you are to replace them, get rubber as anything else is too hard and will also squeak and groan. The other problem with polyurathane is the pins are only pushed into them unlike the rubber ones that have the centre pin bonded thus they slip around.
