I want to change my boring automatic for the 5spd Invecs II. All of the dealerships keep giving my the run around. I know you all want manuals, but I'm to lazy for that. Can I get some suggestions.

Invecs II? Thats not Mitsubishi is it?

Sorry if it is...Do you mean the Tiptronic that's available in Australia?

KB - INVECS II is the aussie tiptronic yes.

I don't think it is the same gearbox and hence forth would mean a change out of the entire box.

INVECSII is the current model of auto transmission for mitsubishi. Both
the Ozzie and the US use it. The only difference is that the US does not
get the sports shifter. Mits had the INVECSII since the TE.

I Think the Japs have the INVECS-III generation transmissions.

Hold on... The US market gets the tip shift too, they only don't have the manual isn't it? I saw a VRX in the US with Tip shift....

Maybe from this year on-wards, but certainly not for the previous models.

INVECS II = Intelligent & Innovative Vehicles Electronic Control System. It's basically the auto tranny and the electronics/software used to control it.

The 5 speed INVECS II is a slightly bigger box, but I've been told if you have all of the required parts, it will bolt straight in :)

INVECS II is the now standard Auto tranny in Japan as well. INVECS III was released, but only in CVT form for small displacement engines (sub 2L)

either that or try and get hold of a wreckers in Oz (do a web search) and get hold of a 'new' second hand one.... maybe even give Dave at RPW a yell, he may know where to get one... vision imports (RPW agent in the US) may be able to help as well.....
