Hello all, I recently puchased a set of Header from Pacemaker

I received my headers as scheduled from Pacemaker, my appointment is not until Tuesday for the install. In looking at these and my diagram for the exhaust manifold in my the car I have some questions/concerns.

The stock headers on the rear bank (right bank) have a catalytic converter installed right after them. These new headers being longer appear to eliminate this cat converter. Does this cat go away you think or does it get relocated after the headers?

2nd is the O2 sensors, these new headers have no install points. For the US spec Diamante we have one O2 sensor in each bank, would I be able to tap a place for them on or would this ruin the pipe and air flow?

I'm freaking out I guess, I want to put them on but I don't want to screw up my engine in the process and not be able to pass emissions testing at my next duty station. Attached is a portion of my E-manual which covers the exhaust manifold portion, go to page 9 of for the diagram.

Thanks for any input you can provide

We have one large cat that is immediately after the extractor assembly (basically bolts up to the cat).

The reason you have two oxy sensors and two cats is that by having the cat & oxy close to the header they heat up faster, and therefore emissions are lower 'quicker'.

You will have to install a cat like ours (you may have one already ... i.e you may have 3 cats).

You may be able to get away with using a single oxy sensor and tying the two imputs to the ecu to the one oxy. Just make sure the car is at operating temp b4 you go thru your inspection station.

Looking at the manual ... the item number 12 is the same location as our cat. You will just have to get rid of the one on the rear bank ... interesting that they don't have one on the front bank ... bizarre. Anyway ... first up try putting one of the oxy sensors just before the big cat (item 12) ... and leave the other disconnected, and see how it goes.

Thanks for the info TooSlow. I'll check with the shop where I'm getting the headers installed about upgrading the main cat. Do you think that by going with only one cat I would have any issues as far as the engine's performance?
