hey everyone

i got four new TOYO tyres about 1 month ago and have noticed recently that they have started to wear on the outside edge .....

someone told me that this might be because the car is lowered and because of the camber of the car or something

has anyone else had this problem ? i might have to go and get it adjusted because i dont want to have to buy new tyres every year !

Yes that is the reason

Get it fixed asap if you dont want new tyres every year :D

When I got mine lowered... (89mm) I DIDNT get a camber kit at the same time... BIG MISTAKE!!!! my four newish tyres lasted about 6mths and are now slicks.... well the inside 3/4 is slick....
If you lower the car it will wear out the inside....
If the outside on all the tyres are scuffing and you had a camber kit put on... that it is to much ... it was over corrected to far...
Otehr than that I dont know... maybe get the ballance checked agin on them..

rather then get the a camber kit,

why dont u just get all 4 wheels aligned??

wouldnt it be cheaper?

The camber kit pulls in or pushes out the top of the wheel...
it does not turn them out or in from the back and front ... like the wheel alignment does.

because camber and alignment are totally different

camber is when your wheels / slant and wears the inside of ur tyres most of the time

ok cool

looks like i will have to adjust the camber on my tyres or get a camber kit or whatever hehe

also has anyone ever gunned it round a corner..... then backed off because of wheel spin... then planted it agian .... and then the car feels like it is going to stall ? it happened to me today and i was like wtf!? hehe

oh well...i guess ill find out the problem when something explodes one day hahah

I have ... but only in the new car... It has Traction control....
When you go flying around a corner... or just turn around a roundabout... it comes on and all power stops :( .. you go flying forward and slow real bad...
I guess it is because the outside tyre is digging in and the inside is almost free spinning...
I dont think Ill get used to that and may end up turning it off when I know Ill be doing some quick cornering.

Wear on the outer edge of your tyre can be from to much positice camber or your wheels are "toeing in".Get a wheel alignment done.
It could also be running too low a tyre pressure and/or hard cornering.

I think u are talking about fuel surge - how much fuel did u have in your tank when u were gunning around the corner?

i love fuel surge :doubt: . try going round a corner on to the main highway in aust and having the car lerch and nearly stop in front of a truck doing 120km/h. i though something was majorly wrong but i went to a servo and put 71L in my 75L tank  . and the damn fuel light didnt come on at all.

TP's came with a 75L tank???

My TH only has a 71L - u must have an aftermarket drop tank!! haha

I am sure the TP's only came with about a 40L tank!!

definately more than 40L cuz every time i fill up i put in atleast 65L. Dad's always told me its a 75L and that looks bout right from previous experiments. read: Dad decided to test how much fuel was left after the fuel light came on. about 10L going by the fuel economy at the time. read: ran out of fuel and mum had to come rescue us. luckly we were only 4km from home and not bloodyhalf way between home and school (30km). At least we had pizza to eat while waiting. :D

Scubasteve has got it right for wear on outside - too much + camber or toe-in. You want a small amount of static toe in so when you drive (& the tyres are forced outwards) you have 0 toe in/out.

As for the near-stalling while going around a corner - check your RPM's. If it's too low for the gear and speed then it will near stall (I hear Camry's on the street doing this all the time).

Also, if you've gunned it then you back off, the ECU will cut fuel at the injectors. So when you slam back on the go-pedal there is a small delay while fuel is pumped back into the cylinders (hence the near stall).
