Hey Guys,
For those of you who dont know what im doing with my car at the moment, here is a bit of information, also some in depth information for those of you who do know.
Recently i made a deposit on a 1988 Mitsubishi Magna TN GLX which happens to have a Turbo, Manual transmission and EFI, so im going for a big conversion in one, and taking the motor from the GLX, and putting it into my Executive, along with the Transmission.
List of things i will be doing while im there along with part names:
Turbo Installation (TD04L)
BOV Installation (Bosch)
Intercooler Installation (Saab Intercooler)
Injector Installation (Toyota Injectors 1G-GZE)
Transmission Installation (5 SPD Manual)
EFI Manifold
EFI Dizzy
Fuel Pump Installation (VL Turbo)
Brake Caliper Painting (Red)
Shockers (Will be transferred from other vehicle)
Rocker Cover Painting (Red)
Block Painting (Red)
ECU Installation (Haltech but possibly something else)
Complete Debadging
Console Replacement (Cracks and ****)
Racing Pedals (Autotechnica)
Brake Pads (Not sure yet :P)
Ok, so thats basically it, im gonna try and get it all done in the Christmas holidays, if i work non stop i will have it done in 2 weeks i reckon.
Any ideas, suggestions or comments would be great.
Check out My Site (http://www.users.bigpond.com/cbrownrigg) for more information, itsn ot completed yet but im working on it, it will be done this week.
Thanks,
Ryan

have it done in 2 weeks? goodluck. thats wat i said about the work i did to my engine. we worked every day, or at least every 2nd day for 3 weeks and only just got it done. honestly... allow 3 weeks, so that way wen u go a week over u arent that disappointed.
wen u get it done. dont hit boost every set of lights  run it in for 1000km.
have u thought about getting a mild head port and polish done while the engine is out?
if u are converting ur current engine (transplanting EFI/turbo into ur N/A/auto), then have u thought about upgrading ur oil pump and timing chain kit? hi performance oil pumps are cheap, and it'll mean u wont have to take the engine out later on down the track if u do put more power through the engine (eg, bigger turbo). im not totally sure but i was under the impression that there was a high performance timing chain kit? if not, my bad...
is the intercooler a front mount? if not, dont bother. go out and find a front mount, will b much better.
the best piece of advice i could give u is to plan out ur work. decide wat u are going to do day by day and stick to it. work at night, there are such things as lights. try and get the engine out in half a day... this means that u should have both engines out in 1 day and u have plenty of time to work on each one. wen u are taking ur engines out, have GOOD straps to use to support the block. edge the block out ever so slightly, if u just lift away and all of a sudden a strap shears through... well yeah, not good. have some solid rope nearby just incase aswell. trust me, rope can come in handy wen u start seeing a strap snapping in half.
anyway, thats all from me.

man not many stock cars come fmic, its mostly wank factor.
get a cheapish skyline/rx7/gtir and put it at the front. dont waste your money on getting a shiney pos hybred. i think nissan/mazda can design IC's better than some dodgy dude who can weld.

I have 9 weeks for christmas holidays, i dont mind how long it takes me :P

It should already be run in.

I have thought about it, but im not sure at this stage.

I will just be swapping engines basically, and no, theres no high performance timing kit, but i think theres a performance oil pump :)

Yeah, i think its a FMIC.

Already done.

Haha, so i have learned from previous conversations with you, i also not to let turbo_charade anywhere near it because thats when straps break :P:P
Thanks guys for your comments :D

Nothing's broken this week. Yet.
What type of exhaust do you plan to put on this thing??? No point having all this other stuff on there if u got the stocky exhaust on it

quiet exhaust and **** off bov :bowrofl: oh yer :D
AussieFella
02-11-2004, 01:48 PM
Yes, something i forgot, ill be having a lukey straight through muffler, not sure which one but probably 2 1/2 inch, i havent really thought much about it.
Ive also been thinking about what Samurai told me, about a blow back valve or something, he was probably bull****ting lol, but never know. I wanna make it into real sleeper material :P
If u want to keep it sounding sleeper then just get a plumbback BOV, if your on a budget get something like a old sr20 one. But if u want something thats gonna shock people dont put a BOV at all, flutter will freak ppl out. imagine ppl turning around to see wats comming and seeing a magna :D
Yeah man thats a plumback, it just routes the air back into the intake rather then into the 'atmosphere'. I read a while back about flow tests on factory intercoolers and RX7 Series 6-8 are the best only beaten by a trust cooler but if you want something good ring around a few importers, some people get their cars taken back to stock for the inspection and just leave it that way, leaving the importers with some nice hi-qual fmic's, they also have sports seats laying around too :D I rekon your tranny change will be a bother, go a digi dash as well :P should be way mad but, good luck dude.

get a plumb back, it will keep the sleeper effect and its legal. Atmosphere venting BOVs are illigal as they let untreated exhaust gas into the atmostphere and are noisey, not to mention they sound lame.
AussieFella

Sounds like Plumback BOV is the way to go, im also going to get a Digital Dash and do a spraypaint job on it.

yeah its PLUMB BACK, like PLUMB BOB or PLUMBERS CRACK..... *cough* i do believe it was me who first started the plumback typo, my bad yawl.
oh and a blow off valve doesnt have untreated exhaust gasses in it... it vents the air after its been compressed by the turbo, its yet to reach the engine, its still in the intake.. to vent untreated exhaust gasses a blow off valve would have to be on the exhaust manifold.. or anywhere from the exhaust valves to the cat..

turbos leak oil from thier seals all the time, your getting oil vapour and ehxuast blow by from the otheside all the time nick
well i could post another exscuse but i guess your right, as if you'd let your turbo blow up, like you'd have to be an idiot.
The reason Atmo BOVs are illegal is because the epa states that any emission from a car must either pass through the catalytic converter or the air filter....

:spam: speakin of bovs hows ur car sogg :D
Bah! Engineers an asshole and people at the jap parts place are dumb. Basically i needed to get a vr4 gearbox, which i did, but after it was installed they realised that it wasnt the AWD/FWD switchable one, so i had to be removed due to the vicous coupling slipping. So i was pissed off seeing as i told the place where i got the gearbox from that i specifically needed that one. So now im waiting on another gearbox.
Second problem is that the turbo is still boosting to 20psi, even with the wastegate open, so the turbo has had to been pulled out and inspected... Still dont know whats going on there.

1. go out and buy some cut and polish and use it. make the paintwork look much better.
2. go to the wreckers and find some rims. any rims. please god, any at all... even some atom mags (stock 1st gen rims)
that is a stock manifold that is on there. has that just been customed for the turbo?
couild i ask for some good quality pictures (taken out in the sun preferably) of the exhaust manifold/turbo side? send them to me on msn if ya want.
AussieFella
21-11-2004, 05:09 PM
1. Already done
2. Yeah, its on the list, i gotta get the ECU and exhaust first.
Yep, stocko manifold thats been customised.
Ill send you some decent pics on MSN.

hell yes :D:D
dude you should've kept the quality up but dropped the actual SIZE of the image, from say 1024x768 to 800x600... thats how its done son. but looks killer, get that mother polished to a chrome finish when you have it out (everything that can be polished, polish it!)
