do u mean a pc that u build to run in the car, or an actual company called carpc?

i know most people just build they're own cases and put just enough stuff in em to do what it needs to (CPU, HDD, etc etc) no sound cards, video cards, cd or disc drives (use everything built in the the motherboard) and just cram it somewhere out of the way

there arn't car specific boards, if you want intergration there a hundred of all-in-one boards on the market just look at an PC store (my favs are centrecom.com.au and msy.com.au) but where ever takes ur fancy. Or you could look at VIA Eden Mini-ITX offerings, best off head over to mp3car.com and do some reading.

I've been looking at doing this too 2much has a car pc setup and i've been sending him acouple pm with questions about his set up.

The hard thing to find is a DC DC power supply. the rest of the componets are just normal pc gear some poeple use laptop hard drives because they are better with shock.

touch screen displays can be found on ebay.

Try JayCar Electronics for DC DC power supply....they mite sell it.

Jaycar did (and still should) sell DC-DC power supplies, but they are very expensive.

I ended up building my own DC-DC PSU but unfortunately i think some of the parts i used you can no longer get for free (free IC componentry samples). Before you ask, i won't make any for anyone, it was a tedious task, but it was the first for me (like making my own PCB boards).

Oh and i could've taken the simplest route like everyone else and buy an inverter, but an inverter is just ugly (not just cosmetically).
