View Full Version : Quick announcment...Magna install and system kits...
Hey gang,
Just a quick note to let everyone know we're turning my brother in laws car into another Fhrx Studio's (audio only - no two-pac) demo vehicle. He needs a stereo for driving to uni in so were doing a full (but still simple) install on his 90' Magna.
Now the relevance for you guys is this; we'll be developing three kits for the magna as we go along (we have already done this for many cars in our time such as the S15, MX5, Commodore, Astra and more). They will be priced at $2k, $5k and $10k installed.
Would anyone like anything specific looked at? The kits will have basically:
Kit No.1:
1 x Deck
1 x Amp
1 x Splits
1 x Sub
Kit No.2:
1 x Deck
2 x Amps
1 x Splits
1 x Sub
Kit No.3:
1 x Deck
1 x EQ
2 x Amps
1 x Splits
2 x Subs
Etc.
Thoughts, comments and queries welcome.

A lot of guys on here would also prefer to upgrade their rear fill to be run off the deck. Problem being in the 2nd gen 199X - 1996 the rears are either none existent or 6inch and in the 3rd gen 1996 - present the rears are 6x9's.
Decks would almost have to be MP3 capable.
1st and 2nd gen Magnas will require custom pods to be able to fit splits in the doors as the front speakers are mounted on the dash ( 4inch i think ).
Umm everything else ( speaker / amp ) choices will be good whatever you select as in the past. Wow Marty has a soft spot for the Magna. :D

Hmm don't suppose you have any 3rd gen installs. I got a 98 tf advance. Just trying to work out some front pods at the moment for 6.5" splits. And in time a boot install. Possibly with amp racks, false floor, LED lighting etc.
Any thing you've got would be appreciated.

Very interesting!
Would each system be an all-rounder of sorts to suit different music types? Or would they focus more on one specific type eg techno (pls no  )

I can help with some questions.
s_tim_ulate: With your install and false floor etc, the sky is the limit with the correct $$$. Visit the web Fhrx web site here (www.fhrxstudios.com) and look in the gallery. You wont need pods for 6.5inch woofers. At most you will need a small 6mm MDF spacer and deadening. I think my car was the first 3rd gen he had worked on in a while with my head unit.
Magnafied: the packages will be broken up into $2 , $5 and $10k. For each of those there will be a SQ oriented package with the focus on jazz, big band etc ( known as soft ) and there will be a "hard" package for things like techno, R&B, hip hop etc. You can mix and match if you wish but contact Marty to see which is best. Also in the $10k package I would imagine he would offer a AV system which includes TV's etc.
[THUGDOUT]: You will have to give a budget and the amp you wish to run the sub. :D

Hmmm there will be a problem with your amps load rating if you purchase a sub now and an amp then another sub later, unless you get another sub + amp. With that in mind i think that 1 12inch sub will do you anyways.
Subs
JL12w0
Hertz HX300 / HX300d ( for a 2 ohm load )
Boston GS1204 ( or new G2 when they come )
IDQ12
Vibe Blackair
DD2512
Amp
Audison SRx2s will do nicely with 600WRMSx 1 @ 4ohm bridged as most the subs have single 4ohm coils. :D
However if you dont have your MB's amped yet may I suggest the PG 8:0.4 or Audison SRx3.

Yup, cool, I have already installed my woofers on mdf baffles and deadening is literally half done... Just want a bit more sq out of them so want to give them as much angle as possible... Was lookign for anyone who has done this, (with any size woofer for that matter)
Thanks!
