I have been looking at finished off my exhaust for a while and have a few quotes. I know many recomend the lukey lr2779 but i decided i want to stay with the dual tip look that suits the 2nd gens. Anyway the quote which looks ok is $450 for 2.25 inch piping cat back, resonator and DTM. Looking for thoughts on which DTM is better, quieter, beter performance wise, less drone, etc. IF there are any other mufflers that i havnt mentioned here pls post.
Also will twin 3" tips be too loud coz personally i dont want a cop magnet. Also what size muffler fits? 5"x8", 5x11, etc?

3 inch twin tips won't make your car louder, it's the muffler body itself and the materials used...
I'd go for the MagnaFlow.. and yes, I'll say it again, I stand by the quality and make..
If you do go for the Magnaflow, I recommend the Street Series, Have a look at them, go for the complete muffler bundled the cool tips that come with it (Buying seperate MagnaFlow tips will cost like 50 bucks).. Gives a Deep Growl, not loud but deeeeeeeeep :)
Good Luck with your decision :)

Greetings All.
Cool. Ive been thinking of getting all my piping re-done next year, then replacing the intermediate muffler and the rear muffler with magnaflow mufflers...
You think it would sound good??
Also, why do you recommend the street series??
Cheers,

If you wanted twin pipes, why not go for the xforce TP-01? They looksy heaps better than the ones u've suggested. Problem is, I've never heard or seen one

So dude you talking about putting in two mufflers not one muffler and one resonator!!
I'm runnin one of each but was thinking of getting rid of the res and getting a second muffler, for a little more back pressure and a little less bark.

Pretty ANY tip that faces up is illegal in perth
down is fine but there is apparently reasons for why you would be pulled over with eek's suggest tip in perth, i wish i could get it too, im pretty sure a similar muffler/tip setup was used in one of fastmagnas Feature Cars, looks sooooo nice, ILLEGAL

I remember that a little while ago when "dumper" style tips were all the rage, they were illegal for 2 resons:
1) Because they "stir up the pollution settled on the road";
and 2)Because if there a police horses around, the vibrations through the ground scare the horses too much. lol.
What a joke. I know some insurance companies wouldnt cover you if you had an accident and u had one. Does anyone know a truth to this rumour?

I firstly ran a 3" dump but found it hammered the noise straight back into the car. Then changed it to a twin rising tips and whaluh noise prob fixed and no cops bothered me at all

Just had it put on this afternoon. Sounds really deep. good tone, but is a little bit loud for my liking, am thinking maybe a better resonator would help. another problem or may not be a problem dont really know is theres a really noticable draw back when I back off the revs.
anyone know about that?

Here is one for ya guys and ladies. As before i run a full marine grade mandrel bend exhaust, high flow cat high flow 3ARacing muffler and high flow res ( all high flow baby) however it is on the loud side and the NSW crew can vouch for that. But i'm now thinking of throwing in a second muffler in place of the res , to quiten it a little and for a tad more back pressure. Now i can either get a cannon for looks at the rear or go with a magnaflow with the twin tips. This ones open for the floor......what do you think??????

hey guys,
personally madmik, i was really into cannons but then everyone has one... i would recommend the magna flow. i am looking at a magna flow system as well (2.25) except with a 3" tip. still not sure might opt for a dual tip model cause they jus look sweeet!! however to accompany this i am having the rear bumper remoulded so the muffler doesnt have to sit on the ground (to avoid black soot all over my bumper) and also so i can avoid the droopy look. dont get me wrong guys, cannons are still sweet as, carbon fibre looks my fav. ultimately buddy its your car and u should do what u think looks good... who cares what people say right, its your baby not theres =).

PS pseudomorphous very nice choice in the end!

Most of them are going to be loud. I had a 3A racing and it droned like nothing else. I then got defected so put on a magnaflow. Much better sound and no drone. Also the build quality and lifetime guarantee with magnaflow make them a good choice.

speaking of. i got pulled over by a cop on my way to the exhaust place who said my exhaust was too loud. i said yeh totally agree hence why im getting it fixed right now. so the cop watched while i drove to the exhaust place and said fix it. get car back tomorrow so hopefully its a bit quieter.

Yeah would be. I had a larger 3" high flow res put in Got rid of all rasp and made driving acceptable for me. But i'd think more into putting in a second muffler doesn't have to be expensive maybe even a lukey where the res is. I think i'll be putting the 3ARacing muffler where my res is (not far from the res) and going with a magnaflow twintip at the rear.
If you want i'll send you some pics of my system remembering its 3" right thru and this baby'll make you **** your pants

yeh i had him replace the resonator. The one he had in there was only 8" in length with i dont think is by far long enuf. Anyway i have a new one in there now which is 22" in length and she purrs like a kitten. Deep tone and quiet. Couldnt be happier.
dude could you take a foto maybe like looking down at the muffler like you were standing at the boot, some side shots etc to see what its like on the car rather than upclose fotos which dont really show what its like (im keen on a dual tip too)
