Hi Guys,

Trying to get myself a diamante bar for my KS just for the driving lights. I need to know what year had the large rectangular lights, rather than the small round ones. See attached pics:

I believe the round lights are 94+ or TS/KS equiv and the square are earlier (TR/KR), is this correct?

Thanks,

Kyle

The oct 91 - end 93 (i think) had the ones you want.

The DOHC ones had no driving lights at all, they had the same as the KR Verada bar here in oz.

The Diamante with the proper parabolic lights had the poxy round driving lights, these I have seen and look crap

Yep, its the KR equivalent the one you want. I almost bought one when I was in Perth. A
wrecker near Leach Hwy had a full bumper and the lights but in a different colour for $300.00.

I know, I was stupid. Should have bought it as when I came back to Adelaide, a wrecker here
was selling just the lights for $300.00.

Just rub it in why don't you. jk. I'm happy with the driving lights on it at the moment. Too much
hassel now since I'll have to recut the cai holes.

lol what didnt you want me to rub in?

I have a diamante bar?

Or I have foglights?

Or I have both?

Are you sure you don't want me to rub it in? I mean I wont tell you that I have a diamante bar or foglights if you dont want me to... :bowrofl:

I still have to get them hooked up actually! I'm just going to run them on a separate switch so I can turn them on and off as I please, as it's illegal to have them come on automatically with the low beams.

I sold the whoile front bar with the fogs to Jarrod a while ago for like $100, i was gonna puit on my old KS but CBF'd painting it, try local import wreckers and ask if they have any nose cuts or front bumpers for a 94 magna, thats all i asked for and they sghowed me the Diamante nose cut (2nd gen - FULLTIME 4WD model to be exact :P) and yeh i ended up buying the nose cut for like $300

Why all this talk about Diamantes...

If in Australia why don't you just try searching for a 2nd Gen verada front bumper ? :D

You sure about this. AFAIK no KR/KS veradas (according to my ks manuals) had fog lights in
Australia. Europes Sigmas, NZ, US and Jap Diamantes had the rectangular ones in the series R
and the round ones in the series S.

For the switch, I went to a wrecker and bought a rear wiper/washer switch from a 2nd gen
wagon and installed it between the mirror remote and the cig lighter. Relabelled it as a fog
light and hooked it up to the parkers via a relay so that it can't be turned on by itself. The
actual switch is a 3 way switch, off, on and instantaneous (ones that are on when pressed
and off when released used to spray the rear windows with water). I only used the first two.
Haven't thought about using the instantaneous one yet. Maybe a project for the future
where it flashes on all the front lights

i've still got my Diamante bar with the round lights on them. I'm planning on fitting it on the TS this weekend, its still unpainted :(

I did a bit of research in the light switches, since i'm one of those people that like things to be integrated nicely into the dash.

Anyway I found that the fog light switch found in the CE Lancers (and possible in some of the Galants) could be easily fitted in one of the blanks on the switch cluster just above the coin box.

Note the different size switches there compared to the ones on the central cluster (ie. where the demister/hazard switches are located)

Why not use a factory Diamante switch? If you cant find one locally, surely one of the US Diamante guys could get one and send over?

Factory switches are part of the indicator/light switch stalk. You'll have to get one of thos and
then dismantle the steering to fit it properly which is not suggested if you have airbags. Better
to get an oem switch that can be placed either next to the cruise control main switch or
between the mirror control and cig lighter.

Was theirs new from factory with the lights or did they buy it second hand and the previous
owner had it installed? Nothing in my books says it has it either standard or optional.

Ah ok..... I assumed there would be a seperate switch next to the cruise switch which turned them on or off.
