Hi Everyone,

I've got a Late 96 Magana Executive TE, and I've recently had the Auto transmition serviced and retrained.

This is the second service in 3 months, the problem has been when the gears shift between 2-3, it's been very sluggish and makes a bit of a thud sound. It's working ok now, but It's going to get bloody fusterating if I have to get it retrained every 3 months! I spoke to the mechanic about it and he said a new software update would fix it, but you can't just get a new software update, it comes with a new computer as well and costs about $1000, which is a bit bloody expensive, does anybody know of an alternative?, or any cheaper option to try to come up with a long term fix to the problem.

Thanks.

Regards,

Smithy.

umm sorry, it sounds like ya transmision is on the way out and your paying the mechanic to reset your ECU which is a simple procedure that involves disconnecting the battery for a while. The magna auto box trains itself to your driveing style so when he resets the ECU it will just learn to your driving style again and shouldnt make much differance you could be getting ripped.

Yeah, but, the transmition has been reset and it's been running very well now. The transmition is pyhsically ok. It's just the damn software in the TE's is crap. I've driven my fathers 2001 Magna and the auto transmition on his car is a hell of a smarter, the thing adapts a lot better and there's none of these gear changing problems, like in my TE.

So going back to my question does anybody know how to address the problem without spending $1000 to get a new computer for it all together?

Cheers.
