Just got the vehicle back from K-mac at rockdale, Sydney.
They custom make springs on the premises to your requirements, and I ended up with 2 1/2" front, 2" rear.
I'm having some scraping on the front right on the flare clip and a little on the left.
The OSF wheel is tad lower than the NSF and the springs where formed at the same height??
As they guarantee the job, they offered to stretch the spring a little to bring it even with the left.
I will probably get it done on Monday.
Has any one had trouble with the front flares scraping or have you modified them (cut a bit of the top inner off the arch and modified the upper clip).
It looks like the flares are not designed to miss the tire on bottoming out as it should have been. They stick in about an inch so there is plenty to remove for clearance.
Other than that, which I thought might happen I am very pleased with K-mac and the look.

looking good
mine bottoms out on the clips on the big bumps - one has already been ripped out.
the inside bottom needs to be trimmed back so the the wheel can move up behind the flare. only problem is the position of the top clip. i haven't been able to think of a good solution.
maybe a custom clip?

That is one nice VRX, I think you got the ride height spot on with this one.
The yellow callipers, holy cow, that really works with silver, very nice.

sorry for the late response, Ive just driven up from Sydney to Coffs Harbour for a few weeks break
The springs cost me 330 made, 220 fitted but K-mac (http://www.k-mac.com.au/) are only in Sydney, but they do postage.
They discussed my requirements with me before making them and I ended up with 100mm clearance at the front skirt behind the wheel (right on legal height) and 120mm at the rear.
They also said they cut the bump stops in half to give more suspension travel.
Handles heaps better in corners, is firmer but not bouncy and the looks speak for themselves :D
The yellow calipers idea came from 3 silver porsches I saw in a dealership window. 2 had racing red calipers and the other yellow, which I IMO suits silver better and is more original.
And for the wing, I never was a big fan of them (my princess is), but it is the perfect height for blocking headlights of cars behind me, has grown on me and will likely stay .....although I could be tempted to remove it for looks testing!
Hope to meet you all on a cruise,

Bugger hey  I wish I'd known you were coming to Coffs Harbour. I would have loved to have met up and checked out the ride of your car with that setup. I am keen on fitting stiffer springs and lowering etc but do not want a harsh ride.
When are you coming up here again ?

Bro if you were up there a little longer i could have caught up. I'm originally from Bello, went to school there from primary to all thru high school yr 12 1993.
I'll be on Leave from work soon and taking my wife and two little ones up there to see my folks in Early Dec. But if your in Sydney or close than i think that we'll definately catch up sooner or later lol
But with the bump stops you'd better be careful, chopping will give you more travel but be aware very aware of those bastard pot holes not the little ones because if you bottom out your gonna feel it twice as much

Hey bird man if your in Coffs i might come over on a weekend and catch up. Dont think i'll have the magna up there though. Will be in the Forester
But i've done all bar coil overs that can be done to suspension and the ride is firm and does handle like it's on rails. Mysti will soon feel the change in hers once the springs and shocks have settled in. ( KYB at the corners and KING springs S/L fronts & L rear) for starters

i fixed the flares today - the top three clips were removed and then the plastic trimmed back. see pic
it sits fine with only the remaining 3 clips, though i might plug some silicon in behind the top part to make sure it stays flush.
rubber does not hit anymore - even on the big bumps :) must do for vr-x kits with wide rubber
(ps. this was instigated by a new clip from mitsu lasting all of 10 mins down the road :doubt: )

I've just trimmed mine too.
I only had to remove 2 clips (topmost and one in front) as I've got standard vrx 17x7's and I take it you have 18x7.5's.
I used the tiniest bead of black silicone to keep the flare flush with the guard. Works a treat.
Like you said, a must do for any lowered/vrx flared owners.

I won't be goin there, my wife still doesn't want (and now know) me to lower it let alone remove the wing.
Quote from princess after car was secretly lowered,
"You've done something to this car, we didn't have to go up driveways this way before. What's that scraping noise, did you lower it?"
Quote from fibber husband " No , did you see me adjusting the flares the other day, thats a clip I didn't put on properly. It looks lower without the trouble"
Easy choice, a 4WD look or a little fibb and having the car look

or slapping ur wife around the face with ur p3ns1 and saying "no i wanna mod my car, now get back in the kitchen"
maybe she doesnt want u to mod your car coz then chicks will look at ur car, and to a woman that means ur cheating
now you just need some big rims

After meeting up with BirdManVRX, we discussed why I hadn't lowered the rear the same amount as the front.
I now think, WTF why not, I want LOW 100mm legal height all round.(currently 100 at front 115 at rear with full tank)
I can get the springs compressed 1/2" or so but does anyone know why I shouldn't lower it any more at the rear.
Why did kings stop making superlows for the rear, was there a reason?
go low,

Maybe going any lower on the rears would make it bottom out when you have some load in the back or a trailer ?? Who knows.
It does look good lowered though, having seen it in the flesh/metal :D

Because the springs were too loose and wobbled about... apparently.

i got king springs superlows front and lows back
i wanna get them compressed
now as far as i know my srpings now give me a 60mm drop at front and 40mm at back
so how much of a drop did the springs give u
how much do i have to compress my springs now to achieve something like urs??
thanks alot

I asked for 2.5" front and 2" rear but the guys at K-mac knew what i wanted and I might have got a little more.
I now have centre of rim to flares - 325mm front, and 310mm rear (soon maybe 295  )
This is the best way to measure height as it is consistent with all rim and tyre sizes.
Add 15mm to your mearsurements if you don't have flares.

so wat springs are they
just custom made ones or kings compressed???
i want mine to be like tat SO LOW!!!
hows ur shocks coping???
thw01f
26-11-2004, 01:27 PM
They are custom K-MAC (http://www.k-mac.com.au/) springs. They specialize in manufacturing to any height required.
As for the shocks, K-mac could have easily sold me new ones but said the vrx standard ones would cope, even when lowered. So far they are fine.
Remember the flares make the car "look" 15mm lower than standard.
