Im running mine through aux in on the front of my jvc kdsx 985. Sounds a treat. No problems with quality. Depending on how good ur system is, pretty much if ur splits are worth more than $200 u should do them justice and try and find another option besides the fm transmitter imo. The signal isn't that strong, the batteries run out etc...
But if you dont notice the difference then this will do the job.
My Pioneer stacker runs through an fm modulator, but this plugs in directly to the aerial and has a lot of power to play with.
See if you can find one and test out the quality, or buy one and check if you can return it if the quality isnt what you want
Does anyone know if you can get aftermarket modulators with a bit more punch(12 volt ones like on stackers?) Surely theres a market for this...

Alpine have an i-pod interface for their H/U's.
Full control of the i-pod from the H/U.
Not sure if it's reached OZ yet.

yer im pretty sure the majority of Alpines new head units do have an i-Pod connection and very simple 2 use. I'd just recommend u save ur self the trouble and buy ur self a nice Alpine deck, its the simplest way!

yeah i have thought about it and i think the best way is to just buy an Alpine hu
theres a special summer discount for the cda-9833 for 599 which is sweet as the lower model cda-9831 is 699

yer, Alpine decks are awsome, i own the cda-9815 (previous line-up) and its a very good deck. it may not have a screen with s%#ty little graphics on it but it does absoultly everything i ever need. it plays everytype of cd and has so many settings to get the perfect balance in ur speakers. Also, th i-Personalize feateuure that allows u to set it up over the internet is great.
Alpine decks are worth every cent and i recommend them to all

Hey i have an ipod running through my headunit (JVC KDSHX705) sounds just like a normal mp3 cd.
Trying to plug it in through your cd changer input wont work unless you get an adaption plug. Which changes it into an aux in that you can use. My old HU didnt have this adaptor so i had to get a new HU. The JVC one i have now has a aux in and i havent had any problems with it.
Hope it helps,
Brownie
*edit* with the FM transmitter you will notice a significant loss in sound quality and sometimes interference from radio stations.

The Alpine interface would be interesting especially if you can control the ipod through the HU :P . Having to use the ipod to change the songs etc can get difficult esp if your driving (clearly not safe) .
