Doodz, what is the best way to reset the computer in my 97 TF? Just take off the battery terminals, leave it for a while, then reconnect? I have done it once b4 and when i turned the car back on, it had issues with keeping its idle, stalling, and running like a bucket of **** lol

If you need to reset it then it only needs to be unplugged for a little while. I think pulling a fuse is probably the easiest way as it means you don't loose your headunit presets etc. It's not often you need to reset it, why do you need to? Once you've given it power again, I think it needs to idle for a while so it can adjust itself. Whilst I didn't experience this, others have found that driving it straight away can cause stalling and stuff.

I remember posting a howto on this a while back, I think it was a Lukey Exhaust tech article, resetting the ECU was something they recommended after having a new Exhaust fitted for obvious reasons.

The Mitsu service book says unplug your negative terminal for at least 10 seconds, put it back on and let the car idle for 10 mins.

hey ralliart akko
found it on my comp
hope it helps
The throttle position sensor sometimes needs re-adjusting when you disconnect your battery terminal - mitsubishi charge you for it!
the proper procedure is sposed to be, disconnect neg terminal for 10 mins.
reconnect, let it idle for a few minutes, then if auto, your sposed to go to reverse, wait 30 secs, then move through all the gears as well..
take it easy driving for the first 15k or so as well as the gearbox is learning and adjusting shift points and stuff..

Hey guys, i did everything you guys said and it worked, however when i turn air con on....the revs drop and the car stalls........
What could it be, i have had my alternator tested and its fine. Why is my ECU retarded....or does it jsut need a while before i can turn my air con on after resetting it?
Arrgg
Nah that might have something to do with that throttle position switch that needs to be adjusted after an ECU reset - ive been lucky in the 10 times or so ive disconnected my battery but maybe thats what it is?!

Sounds definitely like a throttle issue, possibly a vacuum leak?

I dont think you can adjust the throttle position sensor. Personally, If I was experiencing what you were, i would take it either to Mitsu or a reputable auto electrics company (probably the latter). I realise your trying to save a quid by figuring it our yourself, but this dont sound right at all. Get a professional to check it out. Just my 2 cents. :coffee:
