Thinking about buying a Magna, TE, 97, it's got 220,000km on it and is on LPG.

It'll be at auction so no test drives to see if the thing is r**ted. ;-)

What would you pay for it? $3000-4000? Just guessing here.

Looks like a fleet car. Bit rough round the edges as you'd expect for that usage.

Does anyone know of the impact of running it on gas to that kind of mileage?

Cheers

ive heard conflicting stories about reliability and gas.. Ive heard alot of people say that cars are actually MORE reliable running on gas.. whereas i have heard other stories that they are less reliable, because a) it doesnt have the cool liquid as with gas and therefore it doesnt cool the cylinders like petrol does, and b) on start up there isnt any liquid to lubricate the bores, whereas with petrol there is...

but at the end of the day mate, whether its run on petrol or not i would be very sceptical about buying a car with 220k's on the clock without a test drive.. although i spose for 3 or 4 grand you could afford to recondition the motor...
