View Full Version : What do you guys think??
Now,
I looked at the magna today (they want $6860) its done 155k's and it is a TE magna without the cup holder tray thing.
1. there is slight scratches on the car (you cant see it from afar but if u are 1 foot away from the car you can see it.
2. The seal on the left hand side of the windscreen is gone (See pics), just wondering if I offer them $5k would it still be ok to fix or drop the idea?
3. Sounds like the tappers r on the way out, I know a friend can do them for $180.
Thats about it for now, sorry about the quality of the pics, I took them on my zire 71.
Someone must have ideas???

with any 2nd hand car it's not going to be perfect and i think you'd be lucky for them to drop it $1000 ... a car that old for 6000 would prolly be an alright buy ... mine was 18 months old when i got it and there were a few scratches on it ... only way to get a good car is to buy it new

looking at the sticker in the pic. from a car yard???
guessin not a bad price, . if it is car yard should be warranty how long??
IF PRIVATE probably allow $500 just in case of anything (like tappets etc.) or up n coming things like oil coolant brake pads etc. have a good look through the log book over the services...
take it for a drive see how the transmission goes.
Maybe pick out those faults and they might fix or lower price.

By law they have to give you a 3 months 5000km warranty because the car is under 10 years old and under 160,000kms. just make sure the tranny is okay and offer them $5000-$5500. you can always go up in price but never back down. A good buff will prob get 80% of the scratches out, you will be suprised...
P.S. trust me im a salesman myself..
But what about the seal?? Thats what Im really worried about, how much to fix...
It looks like the glue is doing its job atm and not letting water into the cabin, but without the seal it looks unsightly.. plus it looks like this car has cruise control so that is a slight bonus aswell.

Its not a seal by the looks its the strip that clips onto the pillar. the seal is under it...
aaaahhh, always thought that was the seal, how much would that cost to repair?

just check that its not the seal, i can see the clips in the pic so i would say just the strip, mitso will prob charge $50-$60 for one, see if you can find a second hand one for the price of a couple of loafs of bread

The strip for the window is around 40 but hell if it's in a car yard get them to fix it as part of the deal. The tappets are another thing, if the lifters need replacing then they are almost $500

Is this a V6 3.0L? it's not bad if it is V6, the km on the odo isn't bad considering that my TF has the same numbers and I bought it for like at least twice the price this car is going for only 14months ago.
Does it have power windows?
Automatic is.... err... oh well, it's cheap anyway, maybe you can look pass it.
